ARGH! I'm climbing the walls, I just got back from the doc, who told me I have a urinary tract infection, grrrrrr! it sucks like nothing else.

anyone have any remedies or advice... I've been upping the water and cranberry juice, which seems like a cruel joke, more fluid equals more trips to the ladies room which equals more pain!

    :(

Don't know where you are living, but if there is any fields/nature close by go and pick some horsetail, make tea from it and put about 100g of the herb in a pot with water, leave over night, bring to boil and add the stock to a sitting bath tomorrow. You can also buy horsetail extract, but the fresh herb is better.
If you can't find/get it, prepare yourself a sitting bath (water must reach over the kidneys) with salt water (preferably seasalt), that will give you relief too..

mix a teaspoon of bicarb of soda with a glass of warm water or chamomile tea. it tastes awful but it neutralises your wee and stops the burning when you go.

and yeah just drink as much as you can to flush the infection out of your body.

i feel for you, i used to get these all the time and its hard to get people around you to sympathise, especially boys! grrrrrr

drink more cranberry juice than water, if you can stomach the stuff. I never could handle the taste so I always cut it with some water (about 30% water) but didn't drink anything but cranberry juice for a few days. blarg.

I used to recommend a couple cups of uva-ursi tea,or tincture is better, but I found out that blueberries have just about the same amount of the compound that does the trick.so..have a bowl of blueberries.

Cranberry juice has some too, but not as much, and all the sugar in the regular stuff is counter-productive. Straight cranberry juice is more sour/bitter than most can take.

Uva-ursi tea works but you need to boil the leaves quite a while to get the activity, and it's not exactly a winner in the taste department either, but it's better than straight cranberry juice.

its actually better to drink cranberry juice (sugar free) diluted in water about 1 part cran. to 3 parts water. the more water you drink the quicker you will flush it out of you. water is the key.

Didn't the doctor give you some antibiotics and a pain killer? I always used to treat mine with an antibiotic, a bottle of Codiene, at least 8 8 oz glasses of water and some cranberry juice, and lots of rest, and no sex.

I, personally, couldn't stomach the sugar free, I used the Ocean Spray brand, as IMO, it tastes better than the sugar free or the generic.

    I hope you feel better.

    Thanks so much guys.
Ha, I actually told my new man about it and he was all sweet, you know, saying drink lots of water, and remember that they can be avoided by going to the toilet after sex.

Yea I'm on antibiotics, no pain killers, but it seems to be easing up... lots of cranberry juice, I love the stuff!
thanks for the advice, I might try some of them out!

And cotton panties. I'm not kidding. Nylon or other artificial fibers keep sweat, and probably bacteria near your Yoni and make it easy to get into your urethra. NO thongs, or tight jeans. Let that Yoni breathe!

Blessings. I hope you heal soon. I used to wear skin tight jeans and tiny artificial fiber panties and used to get horrible yeast infections and UTIs. (I needed surgery to actually undo the damage, but I think I was born with a Urinary tract problem.) Also, make sure your man is clean (hands, mouth and penis) and that he is gentle for a while after a UTI.
