Nazi skinhead klansmen (in other words, republican assholes) types are protesting in DC today to urge congress to shut down the Social Security program. Social Security is probably the most successful "quality of life" program in human history. No wonder the RepubliNazis want it "privatized." A counter protest is gonna happen; for more info with less anger, see http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2005_06_05.php#005797
You do realize that Democrat Bill Clinton was pushing for radical Social Security reform the entire time he was in office too, don't you. This isnt' a partisan issue, so please don't make it one. Sure, SS was a great idea, 50 years ago, but times have changed, the baby boomers are retiring, and people are living a lot longer. It needs to fixed, or those who don't or can't afford to save & invest money towards retirement and who will be depending on Social Security will be eating cat food in their golden years.
nazi skinhead klansman? funny, i have a few republicans in my family and theyre not white. guess theyre lettin mexicans in the klan now
Bill Clinton was pushing for radical Social Security reform Democrat Bill Clinton? The democrat-in-name-only who signed into law any and every rightwing wacko bill put in front of him? Oh what a surprise. But even Clinton wasn't so rightwing as to actually want to take out social security altogether. Republicans want it gone, period. Some of them have even said so, flat out. And regardless of what they say verbally, what will appear in writing will be a bill to eliminate the program altogether. Minor adjustments are needed. So minor as to be ridiculous to waste time talking about. Make the adjustment, keep the program the rock-solid device it's always been. This isnt' a partisan issue Republicans make everything partisan. They can't even dump menstrual blood and piss on a Koran- or torture someone to death- without making it a partisan issue. times have changed, the baby boomers are retiring, and people are living a lot longer. Yeah, to Republicans, it's a real problem that people are living longer, healthier lives. They can't let it happen here. We have muslims to kill. those who don't or can't afford to save & invest money towards retirement ... are the people with enough morals to stick with their family when their spouse is disabled, or a child comes down with a horrific disease. Unlike republican congessmen who shed wives and families like yesterday's garbage. nazi skinhead klansman? funny, i have a few republicans in my family and theyre not white. guess theyre lettin mexicans in the klan now Okay, I shouldn't have been so polite. It its entire history, the KKK never killed as many people as have the Republicans in the last five years alone. The KKK were bad, but at their absolute worst they were not as damaging to humanity as republicans.
To someone my age, "social security" is nothing but a rip off. The "social security" administration told me so. I CANNOT expect any benefit payout when I retire. And this is good how? The Supreme Court has ruled that one is NOT entitled to the money they paid in. A big ponzi scheme. Socialist chicanery. In the "land of the free" EACH CITIZEN should have the ability to OPT OUT. I guarantee you, if they could, "socialist insecurity" would be history. Rate of return < inflation? Great. Those protesting were not "nazi skinhead klansmen" I'm sure. Besides, the plan does not go NEARLY far enough. Socialist insecurity should be ABOLISHED. PERIOD. I could use that money to pay for my retirement, not for some boondoggle government bs programs. You know the government steals money from the so called "lockbox" to pay for other things right?
To someone my age, "social security" is nothing but a rip off. Your ignorance is profound. You should HOPE you never need it. It's like insurance, everyone pays into it hoping they don't hit the Cancer Jackpot. The "social security" administration told me so. Since you can't read very well, I'm impressed that you've found someone to type for you. I CANNOT expect any benefit payout when I retire. And this is good how? If Bush gets his way, you're right, you're totally screwed. I guess you've come to accept that. The Supreme Court has ruled that one is NOT entitled to the money they paid in. If you're a good republican, you're right. You'll be a corpse in Baghdad by next year. Do as you're told, and don't be concerned about the sick or the old. A big ponzi scheme. Socialist chicanery. You sound like a Rush Limbaugh drone. In the "land of the free" EACH CITIZEN should have the ability to OPT OUT. You do. Now get the fuck out of my country. Seriously. See, in America we look out for our elderly and disabled. If you don't like that, get the hell out. We don't want people like you here. Those protesting were not "nazi skinhead klansmen" I'm sure. Yeah, at least klansmen weren't grandmotherfuckers. Besides, the plan does not go NEARLY far enough. Socialist insecurity should be ABOLISHED. PERIOD. The most successful life-quality program in human history, built by liberal democrats. You're free to cry about it, but this is a losing battle for your side. The line's been drawn, and the Bush privatization is dead. We won't tolerate it, even if it means using extremist tactics. I'm dead fucking serious on that point. And on this issue, the public overwhelmingly disagrees with privatization. I could use that money to pay for my retirement, not for some boondoggle government bs programs. Someone very close to me was hit head-on by a drunk driver, and left with seizures that cannot be controlled by any medication. They happen as often as three times per hour, and she's unable to work or even leave home without being in danger of literally dying. That you consider Social Security, in this case, to be "socialism" tells me that you're a truly evil person. You know the government steals money from the so called "lockbox" to pay for other things right? Like the war in Iraq? The real problem right now is Bush's "borrow and spend" binge. He's wasted billions on a ridiculously inefficient drug program, wars of conquest against nations that don't even have an air force or navy... but that's another (though related) issue. Yes, government spending is a huge problem, and Bush is at the root of it.
I feel so much more secure after hearing Bush explain SS. Bush: "Because the - all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers," Bush said Feb. 4 in Tampa. "For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those - changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be - or closer delivered to what has been promised." http://todaysseniorsnetwork.com/bush_misleads_on_ss.htm .
Good god what a shrill windbag you are! You sound like a nancy pelosi howard dean (yeeeaaaagggghhhh!!!) clone. Wake up an smell the coffee. When SS started, there were like 16 people paying for one reitree. Now it's down to a quarter of that. It is completely unsustainable. I can read just fine, by the way. That's how I know this. And don't call this YOUR country and tell me the "get the hell out". I fought for this country overseas already; this country's as much mine as yours. Maybe you should get out, it sounds like you'd be happier in canada. You use of profanity and non -sequiturs clearly illustrates your lack of intelligence. By the way, do a little research. Your comment about the Iraq war notwithstanding , the Supreme Court ruled in a case from Michigan that NO ONE is entitled to the money they pay in. As far as your relative who was involved in a car accident. Sorry to hear about that, but I am sure SS doesn't do a lot for paying for the care that may be required. I know someone who was in a similar situation, and their insurance covered nearly everything. I don't believe they used a dime from SS. Anyway, you need to calm down man. You'll give yourself a heart attack. It's hard to take someone who's so shrill seriously.
When SS started, there were like 16 people paying for one reitree. Now it's down to a quarter of that. It is completely unsustainable. The program can handle it. Easily. No major changes are required, though some minor adjustments are in order. It's no big deal. It's not like this wasn't planned for, just as we all know we will always need to make adjustments to it. I fought for this country overseas already; this country's as much mine as yours. I thank you for your service, but I'm sure that means nothing to you. Being a vet means being shit upon, I've noticed, and I'm sure you're used to that by now, and nothing I say will likely make you feel appreciated. Hackworth dies, Bush says not one word about it. Can you believe that? Fucking OUTRAGEOUS. In time of war, our most decorated soldier dies- a guy fighting for our vets and soldiers till his last breath- and not ONE WORD from the asshole in the White House. RepubliNazis mocked the troops during the convention by wearing Purple Heart band-aids. Guys serving in Iraq have lost their homes, wives, arms, legs, dicks, jobs- and all for nothing, while pompous millionaires get drunk and dance while our people are bleeding out in dirty streets. We could buy a $200,000 house for literally every soldier we have in Iraq- every last one of them- and not even increase the war cost enough for anyone to even notice. Notice that no one dares suggest anything like that. It's not "support our troops." What they really mean is "support our Ooops." Once upon a time, conservatives could say "look, we disagree, but I respect your views and I'm glad we're both trying to make this a better country." Now, the conservative view is "love it or leave it, and fuck you for caring." But ultimately the liberal view will prevail, and yes, I'll be there to offer to cover your plane ticket to China or wherever. the Supreme Court ruled in a case from Michigan that NO ONE is entitled to the money they pay in So "no one" is collecting? Of course not. Courts have ruled all sorts of silly things, but only the Republican Party seeks to rip Social Security protection out from under all Americans. And yes, I do get riled up when people start talking about letting the old people and the poor people just die off. Now, at one time I was somewhat libertarian, and would have argued that the private sector could handle things like this. It's still not totally impossible. Does your state permit "stacking" auto insurance plans? Is there a subrogation clause in your health care coverage plan? Most people wouldn't know what that even means, nor even who to ask- much less the ability to make financial arrangements to cover every extremely unlikely possibility. In my home state, republicans made sure policies can't be stacked even when total benefits by all are less than the immediate damages. They've also made sure that subrogation clauses are enforceable, so that your medical insurance company gets any possible settlement that comes from your auto insurance. If I was mangled in a crash tomorrow, I'm guessing the conservative view would be "fuck him, he should have planned properly for this sort of thing." And then never even give it another thought. Social Security was never meant to fix all of the ills of society. But as a basic safety net, a basic tool to provide a quality life and a better-than-average society, it's probably the most successful program ever undertaken by human beings in all of recorded history.
