Whew...These things would absolutely cripple the economy. I'm glad you aren't in charge.

May I ask how you intend to pay for a trip to Mars (and also pay for medicare and college loans for everyone) when tax receipts plummet because there's very little incentive for any industry to rise above mediocrity?

 

Primarily, the last item on the list, massive military budget cuts. We currently spend more than the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD on our military, and trimming it back to a purely defensive domestic force would free up hundreds of billions of dollars every year.

Not sure why industry would become "mediocre" under such a system, either. Products would still need to be produced, and working class people (freed from mortgages/rent, health insurance, and usurious credit card bills) would have more disposable income with which to buy them. The only industries that would that would take a hit would be defense contractors, and their engineering and manufacturing expertise could be put to work on the energy and NASA stuff.

Of course, upper management salaries would come down quite a bit, but fuck 'em.

 

Granted, that would free up a large chunk of money. But even if you cut 100% of defense spending (which I'm sure you don't support anyway), you'd still be nowhere close to paying for medicare, college loans, and a trip to Mars.

Oh come now. You can't honestly believe that the corporations are going to continue producing things out of the goodness of their hearts, just because they "need to be produced." Industries are interested in how much profit they can make (we can argue over whether that's a good or a bad thing, but it's certainly true). Under your system of a "maximum wage," they aren't making enough money to justify their expenses, risks, and efforts.

They aren't just going to suddenly get those things for free if the government pays for it. They'd still have to pay for them in taxes. Besides, disposable income won't mean much if there's nothing to buy. This was tried in East Germany...the people didn't have much money, but they still saved a lot of what they made because there was nothing to spend it on.

Anyone that made more than the "maximum wage" would simply stop working and stop producing anything at all.

It's precisely that attitude that would lead to the collapse of the economy. Most people who have risen to upper management positions have done so because of their talent in that field...if they stopped working when they reached the maximum wage, they'd have to be replaced by someone with less ability or experience.

 

1. Withdraw from Iraq
2. Legalize all drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc. (Victimless Crimes) with a minimum age of 18.
3. Privatize Social Security.
4. Privatize Medicare.
5. Abolish Welfare
6. Privatize all educational systems.
7. Legalize abortion, gay marriage etc. (aka - perfectly ethical and positive actions only halted by ancient conservatism.)
8. Reduce military to national defense and have limited but effective offensive units.
9. Abolish most economic ceilings and floors, except for extreme cases (monopoly and cartelling oligopolies)
10. Abolish censorship (Parents and others can choose to view vulgar content or opt out for cleaner media, rather than have public entities be censored heavily.)

 

How are NAACP, NOW, and PEta hate groups?

 

1. If there was an organization for the advancement of White people, you can bet it would be called "racist."

2. NOW stood up for Bill Clinton despite numerous allegations that he harassed/fondled women. 'Nuff said.

3. PETA is widely considered to be a nutty group that takes animal rights to the extreme. I have not researched this group, though.

 

I agree. It would be incredibly destructive to the economy to place a cap on how much money you can make. To me those who want a cap in place seem a little envious. Why punish people for simply being successful, or even extremely successful? Such an attitude is anti-American.

 

I am extremely pleased that some of you AUTHORITARIAN assholes aren't in charge. These puritans missed out on the whole "freedom" aspect of the hippie movement apparently.

 

These groups can't stand the fact that America is made up of different races and culture. They only defend their people and try to bring down people that our outside of their group. This is all based on hate.

I also had the Promise Keepers and GLAAD mentioned as hate groups but you didn't bring those up. Does that mean you think they are hate groups and if so why are they different than the three that you mmentioned?
