Man this shit pisses me off. The way we totally desecrate the face of the world in persuit of money, ruining mountains and streams, entire ecosystems, to extract coal with further ruins the air, water, and climate, all for some money. Soon the coal will be gone, but so will the mountains, streams, and valleys...as well as those who profited. Money doesn't buy more life, or happier life. When will people realize this?

I'd post the article itself but it's very long, here's the link:

I agree, there is almost no stopping it, we can only slow the degradation of our environment now, especially with those like Bush in office who care only for themselves and profit. The earth's atmosphere and environment is being destroyed for the pursuit of money and wealth, without the slightest regard to life. Unfortunately, there is no turning back. The greenhouse effect will only increase until we hit another ice age, earth will be forced to cool itself off much like how we sweat if we're overheating. Mother earth will shake us off like a bad case of flees, there will be survivors, but only those who begin preparing now & start letting go of the way we live today, it is NOT a long-term solution or even a realistic one.

As the environment gets worse, we'll have more & more extreme weather conditions due to the drastic hot & cold weather differences we'll face. Extreme warm fronts will come in contact will extreme cold fronts, creating VERY bad storms, and that's the least of our worries. If the polar ice caps begin melting any faster, we'll be sent into an ice age sooner than we think. I estimate the next ice age to be in 100 years, if we're lucky, but 30 years is more likely because things are not likely to stay the same, more & more cars are put on the streets every year. Some countries are already realizing this and are trying to do something to help prevent the melting, but to really HELP, we need to stop sending so much smoke into the atmosphere.

hey kevin, you sound just like me man, right up to the george carlin line of mother earth shakin us off like a bad case of fleas, lol... i totally understand where your coming from though, seems all us caring souls can do now is just slow the process down......

also-that summer protest thing is taking place right now i think, the training camp is anyway, its just finishin up i think i read. i bet they will still accept some more heads to help out though, would be a nice experience too, to see those beautiful mountains and natural environments....the fact that were still mining coal is some fucked up shit though, especially when alternative cleaner technologies already exist!!! its inevitable we switch to them, but no we have to destroy the atmosphere and kill more innocent people just looking for money to get the coal...

I live in WV and in the past few years I have seen so many mountains torn down. Places that were once beautiful to look at are not just flatops of ugliness. It's a shame.

they don't have to make any reclamation effort and they can use more chemicals

nevada..... whores, gambling, mining. what more do you need?
