I wish I could have some basic skill of calculating in my head.... unfortunately calculators don't exactly help with that. I remember trying to do everything by hand around 4th grade, and the teachers told me I had to use a calculator (schools these days).

  3. Your associations are logical.... darn you normal people..... all your associations make sense to other people, associations are just like jokes.... autistics aren't funny (have problems communicating) because they have to explain the joke (the line of thought) where as someone with logical associations are jokes that make sense to everyone because they make use of collective ideas and concepts (not at all saying an autistic can't be funny, just the metaphor that seemed easiest)

on the plug and chuggers I see where your coming from, I need to have a model of a mathematic concept in my head before I can understand it, I use manipulatives every time I do math (base ten blocks, whatever) it's the only way I can represent numbers, conceptual things become "shapes" (my meaning of the word shape is much more all encompassing and complex than the simple 3 dimensional things most people are used to, these things are such complex machinations and I suspect few of them could ever exist, but every concept that their is from death to taxes is a shape) shapes become the device by which these models, simulations in my mind work, they generally have proper physics

My brain is an interesting place......

That phenomenon is called synesthesia. The association of concepts with sounds or seemingly unrelated objects or sensations. I've read about it before, and it is fascinating stuff.

Here's an interesting article I dug up on it: A Genius Explains The guy in the article associates the number five with a thunder-clap, for instance. I also read another article with a girl who could "taste" music, but I can't find it at the moment...

The human brain is an interesting place! :)

  7. I can do powers of 2, i work w\ computers a lot so I went for the simple binary excuse, heh... I understand the taste music thing, I have colours and textures for sounds, an airy sound for example (poorly played flute) would be like diluted milk or transluscent whiteness, a dark colour is one with depth, a sound that "tastes" like molasses or a darker caramel
