Which means there are too few jobs to hold all of the qualified workers & so they can only hire the overqualified workers. Sure, because there are 5000 people applying for this one little shitty job! This is also a symptom of the above Syndrome: Requesting Overqualified Candidates Means too Many People are Applying for too Few Jobs. Did you hear that George? Your bubble economics are flying way too close to the ground. The W Bubble. It's Genetic! It seems like if there are too few jobs for people with a Bachelor's Degree, that they start preferring people with a Master's Degree. What —for Customer Service? So like if you get downsized out of the IT Industry & 3500 people got laid off with you, that only those who had Master's Degrees are going to be rehired — by Walmart? There's a lot of issues here. (1) Government not being honest about the Economy filters down to (2) Employers not being honest about hiring practices. This encompasses all forms of hiring discrimination which have not been labelled as against the law. But they also ask you illegal questions & get away with them. They do it but they don't talk about it. I have a relative that worked for the government where this was the understanding, a common practice. There are other common illegal practices that they just don't put a name on, so they escape notice. What, is the person applyiing for a job going to do--sue them? How can you prove a negative? :&
—as well as others just below the surface! Certainly Companies Skirt the Law in Hiring Unfairly, just as outsourcing is an acceptible form of Capitalism.
Read a book called "Fast Food Nation", or talk to my buddy, hairybuckeye, about it. It basically talks about all the corporate shadyness in the fast food industry, including certain laws that were passed to give companies more power over the work force. I tell you this, you'll think twice about eating a Big Mac if you read that book. Nasty, nasty shit, man.
I don't know if I'd call it Capitalism per se, Captitalism works well if its constituents are supervised and regulated, what we have here now is a manifestation of Capitalism-gone-wrong.
Yeah, that may be so, but Capitalism is based on Selfish Greed rooted in the heart of Man, and I don't know how much supervision any people need to go out & make a quick buck off of someone else's misery or need except a threat that their wife's not going to give them any more pussy & she'll take the house & kids with her & get a girlfriend. On the other hand, Communism was based on a form of Biblical Sharing that eliminated God, ("From each according to his ability unto each according to his need." Acts 2:44 & 45) because the State took His place; which had to be Legislated by a Dictatorial Ideologically-run Government (because the People had previously been Catholic or Orthodox) that in turn supplemented the needs of the people to Prove its success —that Sharing worked & it was worth the common sacrifice for the Revolution--yet they ruled with an Iron Fist Unmasked! Without the fist it crumbles. So although Capitalism may be way out of line with selfishness & screwing everybody without conscience, Idolatrous & Pagan in Behavior but mostly just nominally Theistic, fat & stuffing themselves to death which may mimic their eventual end, it succeeds beyond Communism because Ideologically speaking, everyone is selfish, everyone wants to do their own thing, freedom, which is a strange notion in the annals of History, something the French thought up during the storming of the Bastille & exported to us inside a Statue —so I don't think Capitalism needs to be regimented all that much, regulated as you said. Either system folds & you have Anarchy. Anarchy is very interesting because it sucks equally for everybody.
communism worked.....on paper only, unfortunately the human characteristic of greed wasn't factored into the idea and that was what poisened it. Ironically, capitalism is pretty much the same story, it sounds good, but greed and overindulgence turns capitalism into what we are beginning to see now...Corporationalism, a society largely influenced by multimillion dollar, multinational corporations...who don't give a fuck about anything but the bottom line dollar sign. Corporationalism, as we will see in the future, will fail as well. Everything in life, in EXISTANCE, has to maintain a delicate balance, including government. Freedom is good, capitalism is good, but when you put the two together, you give humans the opportunity to realize the full potential of their greed...I mean when is enough ENOUGH, for companies like Pepsi, Wal-Mart, McDonalds...the list goes on and on. If you want to direct your hate at the true oppressors, its big corporations, and hit them where it counts, on the bottom line, don't work for them, don't use their services, buy their goods, etc;.....but good luck TRYING to do that, because you never know who actually controls what.....
I see it in a similar way, but with some alternative problems/solutions, that I can't quite define or solve. I like the two main issues you brought up: 1) Both Communism & Capitalism ultimately result in just two classes: Rich & Poor. This is inherently Evil & the great chasm between the two only grows wider as the 'middle' class fades into oblivion within Capitalist Society, so that in the end, you have the Technocrats & the Wage-Slaves with nobody in the middle due to hidden fees & invisible taxes that hit the middle class hardest but miss the rich & poor. When Communism crumbled, there was a period of mafia-styled gang rule. Then of late Putin & the Government stepped in to Nationalize the Oil holdings & jail of one of the richest entrepreneurs of the post Communist era. So it seems like the Commies are also Capitalists, or enjoy it, like the Chinese, but put the stops on individuals who become too greedy because the government is even more greedy. 2) It's impossible to figure out who supports what with their income because of all the subcontractors, vendors & personal expenditures of income by management involved. Also most of the super-rich become involved in some form of Do-Goodism, Bill Gates in Africa, SO & SO supporting this or that Charity. Whether a Tax write-off or an offering to their suffering consciences, who knows their hearts. Besides this, I don't think it is possible in this World to make something which is beneficial to All & hurts no one. Plus, a little old lady growing flowers & selling them at the market for her food is Capitalism. I guess there are only degrees of Greed & with Freedom, who is to define that.
