I'm going! about the searching cars... it depends who does the search. They didn't get us for anything, but some of my buddies behind us got their pot and their piece taken up. I don't know why the hell that happened, but that was the first time I had ever heard of that happening. I guess maybe if it's just laying around or something they'll take it.
I will be there once again this year...driving up from Miami...man Florida is a bitch to get out of but what a beautiful ride! FaeryMoon is right, some cars barely got looked at while they asked us to even open our trunk and looked through out cooler. It's really no big deal, just don't be stupid and wave your drugs in anybody's face. Also, feel free to bring your own shit (bud, mushies, ect) in but you can find everything and anything you want once you're in there! I usually bring enough bud for the drive. Last year I ran across folks selling morphine (not my poison but to each his own) so you can get whatever you need once you're there. My advice to newbies...don't pay any attention to those who are against roo. Though difficult at times, large festivals can be a blast and an experience I recommend everyone try at least once. There will be folks whose lifestyles you do not agree with but there will be an equal amount of people who you immediately feel are your earthy brothers and sisters. Roo will be as fun as YOU make it. It has so much to offer so pack for all elements (heat, rain, sun, cold) and have a blast! Anyone who wants to meet up, message me, I'm totally down for a meeting round the mushroom fountain!!!!
I didn't get searched at all. I was driving, listening to string cheese, and playing my djembe while my friends were walking along side. The people checking the cars just told me they liked my music and I went on through. I did have most of my stuff hidden though just in case
To all those who are going, have a GREAT time!!!!! I wish I could go, but there's so many reasons why I can't. They're already talking about it on the local news and telling people to prepare for the traffic, ah.
Thank you and ill make sure i have enough fun for you and all the others who want to but cant for what reason or another
yes, def. remember stuff for the cold, before we left i was thinking "it's tennessee in the summer it's gonna be hot as hell!" which it is.. during the day but, come night it does start to get quite chilly... and after a few rain showers you'll be thanking us when you brought a sweatshirt or a jacket, cause i was thanking my mom for reminding me of that factor... 1 week to go guys!! be careful driving up don't wanna hear about any of ya'll getting busted before you even get there! happy 'rooing
Hey ya'll. I just signed up for this site, and looked it over, and it seems pretty chill. I am indeed going to Roo this year, and it will be my first time. I am pretty excited. The only thing I ask if for some suggestions. I will be driving from Madison, Wisconsin, and i know gas will suck, but about how much money should I bring. I know it all really depends on what i feel like doing or smoking, but I am just looking for a ballpark....Secondly, is there anything that you veteran Roo go'ers would suggest to bring that a noobie like myself may forget? Thanks for the help, and ya'll have a good Bonnaroo '05
Hey now, Better bring bug spray, sun screen, and a 5gl bucket with plastic trash bags that will fit down inside + toilet paper, you might be a long way from the porta johns. LOL
Everyone and their brother pray because its suppose to be solid thuderstorms all week next week throughout the weekend-
Yeah..we have scattered thunderstorms in our 10 day forecast.. I was really hoping it wasn't gonna do that again this year. Oh well..guess we may get to play in the mud again. Maybe it'll clear up..keep ya fingers crossed!
Two or three maybe, but they all seem to find their way to my tent. Come to think about it, they might be stow aways from Georgia. Sneaky little bastards.
I live here (2years) and went to Roo last year and didn't notice the mosquitoes. But definately bring rain poncho, extra tarp(s), good tent in case of rains. A canopy tarp is practically essential. In the thick, deep mud that you can't avoid walking through (in the case of rain) consumed a lot of flip-flops. May want to bring a good fitting pair of old sneakers. The mud monsters don't like sneaker as much! Food expensive??? I didn't buy any... or really see any for sale. We brought our own and grilled most of our main meals. You can buy most beverages but we didn't buy any we took our own water, beer (although we didn't drink nearly as much as we thought), and any other beverage of choice (vodka and red bull). You will need to buy ice if you keep coolers of perishable food. The ice isn't cheap but was the only thing we actually spent money on so aside from the tickets (and weed) the trip was very cheap. You can buy showers too. I can't remember the cost. I just put a four gallon jug on my car roof with a short hose attached and showered under that. Definately refreshing with all the humidity and mud! toilet paper is a good idea also. The jons arent always supplied with useable TP. If you are like me and care to get at least a little sleep nightly and are a very light sleeper, earplugs come in handy as well. Hope some of this helps!!!
