Ummm I think they're a quarter of a yard...but only a bit bigger than a quarter of a yard....a fat quarter of a yard. lol...I'm great at explaining things :p Really,I'm not too sure myself. That's just what I thought they were.

I love me some fat quarters man...I buy em constantly when i cant be bothered with getting fabric cut.. I can get the bottom to an apron top outta 3 or 2 if i am really tryin hard...
check out this definition i got ya lucy!

While a regular quarter yard of fabric is 9" wide and 44" long; a "fat" quarter is the same amount of fabric cut "fat." Fat quarters are twice as wide (18") but only half as long (22"). It’s a little more versatile and the perfect size for quilting projects.

I love em...i love how Jo-Ann's has them all along their calico walls...it warms my soul...

They are usually several colour co-ordinated quilt fabrics, so you don't have to do the matching. 1/4 metre-ish each.

Is it me or are they expensive... There like a puck and change for one and a yard of the same fabric is like 3 bucks...

They are expensive, I guess it's because they are cut and packaged for you, and they already match. They are also high-quality quilt fabric, not cheap-o stuff....;)

    I've never used them.

They're expensive, indeed. It seems to me though, that the fat quarter bundles at Joann's are of fabric not available on the bolt. With some of the fat quarters atleast,I couldn't find it on the bolts. I still don't buy them, even though they are so pretty usually.
