However far you travel towards it, the horizon is still as far away as ever. Zora Neale Hurston

Occam, your reply reminded me of this quote, which I have always liked, though I am not sure why.

And also, my math teacher once said to not be nervous about how we were going to do on an exam being handed out, cuz a billion Chinese people won't care in the least. I see death like that, although it may seem very important to the one dying, there are billions of people who won't even notice.

Carlos Castenada, I think, wrote something like this. Death is by your side every day of your life so you may as well make it your friend.

Woody Allen: " I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens."

    Buddhist wisdom

All fear violence, all are afraid of death. Seeing the similarity to oneself,
one should not use violence or have it used.

    Wellmet my friend.

Funny you should mention Juan And Carlitos.
No mater how unreal he may have sounded...
Something rang true. Dunno what it was..just 'something.'
    And the stories were cool.

    Loved them...

    And about horizons.
So many with such small ones...
Yet they have no 'horizon envy'
    How unusual...
Could it be that one dosnt know one has a horizon AT ALL.
    Untill the concept..'conceptual horizon'..is understood. ;)

    Colours...

    In what way my friend...?

Occam would really like to know what you define 'odd' as.
And how occam fits that definition.
    No trick question.
    Curiousity.

Ps. Otherwise occam will take it as the compliment it obviously is.:D

Those buddhists can't imagine an S&M session, can they? Some people use violence to express love (of some sort). Of course, if you aren't into it they shouldn't engage in it with you, the same with me not jumping every hot girl I see- they have their own mind and I don't want to do anything they don't want me too (unless, of course, I know (absolutely) that it is good for someone- then I will do something they do not like or claim they do not like).

when I was younger I feared death only because I would be leaving my family behind. Is that vain?

that's funny.... i was talking about that the other day with a friend; what would be the "biggest" reason you wouldn't be able to go through with suicide (don't ask me about the morbidity of our conversations...!), both agreed that it would be the equivalent of torturing our parents. ...families, they hold you back, i tell ya. :p

aus. is a beautiful country, occam; i've just moved to sa from overseas so i'm very aware of aussie slang now. lol

Went through SA like a dose of salts on the Duke years back.
    But only stopped in motels.
More roadkill than you can count. But beautifull country.
Loved the coast near the bight
    Have lived in perth/cairns/sydney/brisbane
Now on the North NSW coast. Near grafton.

So, gonna do the harold holt. :)
