I think that this is a humourous & touching 'rites of passage' classic by J. D. Salinger from 1951. Set in December 1948 it follows the progress of Holden Caulfield when he returns home to New York having flunked his high school. I though the ending was particularly touching & almost made me cry. Has anyone else read this book?............
Ugh i hated the end. It felt like he got sick of writing and decided to end it without finishing. Gah it pissed me off. Up until the end i really did like it.
Best Book in existance. Perfectly written, perfect characters. A perfect betrayal of adolescent struggles. Hands down my favorite book...
Wow! two extremes!!!. One person hates it; the other person loves it. I found it quite cynical but earnestly honest. It shows the angst of a libidious teen-ager;- as true today as that ever was. The central character can't stand up for falling down. I thought the ending was deeply sensitive & heart-rendering.
