For being a hippie 2day, is it more or a spirit or a livestyle. I was tlking w/ my family(mom:ex-hippie, dad:deadhead, sis:sort of righty) and the lifestyle my mom thought is dead b/c there really is no free community hippie places anymore(publicly known) and then I fired back that the spirit of the natural bond between people and nature and all is still alive so yes there are young hippies. But then my dad put in something about this new 'label' 4 indie rockers who follow around thier fav bands and call themselves hippies. So, any thoughts?
hippy is just another category for those desperate to fit in somewhere. be you. if that makes you a hippy, then so be it, but you are you, dont be anyone but you.
Exactly was should have this as a FAQ or something. For God sake get a life, nobody with any sense gives a rats ass! Hmm yes I'm feeling rather brutal today, but jeez this is ancient already.
hmm, the more you allow yourself to be labelled the easier it is for people to ignore what you say, or to pass you off, the easier it becomes for people to make generalised comments.... I consider myself a spirit without controls, without mental restrictions, without a label other than 'me' which can't be interpreted by others. I don't think the hippie movement is dead, I just think it has come to mean many different things to many people and is no longer a relevant term... In order to be a true hippie you are going to have to live a life style that is a little outdated, and the modern equivalent has developed in many directions (as already said) hmm, fuck knows.. I am not sure it's worth debating, vision and to follow that vision is all I am concerned with, anything else seems irrelevant to me, my vision my be influenced and may incorporate other experiences I didn't expect, but my overall focus remains the same... did I lose the point of the thread somewhere!
Just 2 clarify. Yes, I am a hippie/rocker/werido/liberal/etc(whatever else u feel like slapping me w/). No, I didn't post this 4 myself. I thought this was a interesting topic and wanted 2 know how others took it. I don't care if i fit in or what most if not all people think of me. But thanks 4 the replies.
