one of my buddies typed this when he was high, i thought it was really cool! it makes sense i think... "Time. The biggest invention of man. It rules our lives. Everyday we follow times rules and laws. We are pawns of Time. That is why a group of people do certain things. Those certain people do certain things, To escape the tight grip of Time. Today, on March Seventh, of Two-thousand and Five. I escaped Time. I felt so free and not nervous of Time. Although Time still left a horrific image in my head. I was so worried about Time. Because we are so attatched to this thing called Time, I have concluded that Time itself is a drug. It is byfar the most addicting substance in the universe. Man made Time. Time made laws. Time rules man. Man suffers. Time finnaly took grasp of me once again, And I continued to be enslaved by Time."
Time was never "invented", it's just a dimension, a definition. Time was first measured by Monks in the early 12th century, I believe, to assist with their praying schedules. Little did they know, the clock would become the most widely used instrament in the world, and it is the sole reason why evil capitalism exists... FUCK THE MONKS! haha!
I would agree, time is not actualy counted as a dimension, it is merely a human perception of change over time. Simply this and nothing more.
time was measured long before the 12th century monks. the chinese had wonderful clocks (some beautiful water clocks, amazing too), the babylonians had their sundial...everyone knows of time. We moderns are enslaved, however, by mechanical time, time that is divisible into incomprehensible fractions (nanoseconds, for example), time that can be divided at all is a dangerous concept. Time used to be marked by the movement of the sun in the day, the moon in a month, the seasons, the years. Time is not bad, the use of time in the modern sense might be considered bad (depends on how it's used and viewed). Time exists inasmuch as length width and height do. It is necessary if you wish to specify any event (where on the x,y,and z axis, and when?). It has been used this way forever: "meet me by the bend in the stream by the big oak tree (specified in the 3 dementions) at noon (time). But to let it rule us is to let a tool become the master. I like the first post, but would make this addition: time in the modern, mechanical sense, divorced from the natural on which it's supposedly based, is the bad part. Time in a natural setting is healthy and necessary (you must store food for winter, must know the right times to hunt or fish). As with all things, it is good to break free from the artifices of modernity with all it's chaos and mechanical aspects and find solace and reality in nature. Can I get an amen???
No its a 4th dimension because people tell you it is, it doesnt make it true. For animals there is no clock because there is no time, its just a movement, a natural balance to the way of life and we have become corrupt with this man made version and that keeps us from natural living I am stoned and I have some good ideas. Time does not exist really, if it was a dimension u could move freely in and out of it. Time is just the illusion created by movement or expanison.
animals also don't measure length, but that doesn't mean that dimension doesn't exist. If the three dimensions didn't exist, the world (at least as we know it) wouldn't exist. Same goes for time.
Measurements are man made to understand natural concepts, and they can make a measurement of something that seems to exist when it doesnt. Time is to perfect to exist in this sort of chaotic world. Its a constant unlike everything else. Time is just measured by the movements of the earth around the sun. If you are floating in space, it might as well be timeless. A year on earth isnt the same as a year on Jupiter. So its just a man made thing. I dont know how to explain it to other people well but I understand it.
you're confusing the idea of man made time (human constructs) with natural, dimensional time. Natural time is the first two, human time are the last three, of the following definition. time n. --A nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future. --An interval separating two points on this continuum; a duration: a long time since the last war; passed the time reading. --A number, as of years, days, or minutes, representing such an interval: ran the course in a time just under four minutes. --A similar number representing a specific point on this continuum, reckoned in hours and minutes: checked her watch and recorded the time, 6:17 A.M. --A system by which such intervals are measured or such numbers are reckoned: solar time.
In my report I did on the spanish conquest through Georgia, there was this one part that talks abt how the indians said time was evil. That before the europeans had brought clocks and time to america the indians only had 3 times of day, sunrise, noon, and nightfall. There were no obligations of an hour a minute and so on. The indians found such small divisions of time useless to them. I thnk they really had somethin goin for them
"No its a 4th dimension because people tell you it is, it doesnt make it true." Excuse me, don't make a claim that you can't back up with anything but your own personal beliefs. Mathematically it has been proven that we exist in several dimensions, and TIME is infact one of them.
And also, time isn't constant. There was an experiment done where a spacecraft traveled and extreme speeds with a clock synchronized with one on earth, and when it landed it came back with a noticible discrepancy.
I know this is the MJ forum, but on my 1st acid trip my friend read this poem to me: Minutes and non-minutes have passed. Yes and no I don't know who wrote it, but it gave me a lot to think about that night.
