Hi everyone Do you think that if something happened to you while you were in your childhood like drowning may effect you while you are an adult? I mean do you think for example if you drowned while you were a child, will that make you scared of swimming pools while you are an adult? I think it does affect because life is a series of actions and reactions. What do you guys think?
Some people will allow a traumatic event to steer their lives. I know a woman who almost drowned as a child, and to this day she has panic attacks when even driving across a bridge. But that's just a personality type. I know others (very few) who take adversity as a challenge, and they overcome their phobias--sometimes even become stronger. I know a girl who fell off a roof when she was a kid, had a fear of heights, and now she's in the US Army Airborne. She kicks ass. So, yah, definitely a traumatic experience WILL affect your adult life, but the question is how?
If you drowned when you are a child you will never become an adult, duh! Drowning=death. That is like asking, "If you get decapitated as a child will it affect you as an adult?" Here is the deffiniton of "drown" Drown v. drowned, drown·ing, drowns v. tr. To kill by submerging and suffocating in water or another liquid.
i nearly drowned as a kid and for a while i was scared of water, like, any water, but i'm ok now. i don't like the sea, but thats just one too many jaws movies probably
