It is not all that hard. It takes practice..and even better to have an experienced glass artist handy to help you out. I didn't have any help starting out so I got lots of books. After you get more used to working with molten glass, it becomes easier. The cost is the main thing. Our entire set up (kiln, torch, tools, glass and various odds and ends) cost around $2000. You can go higher or lower than that depending on the type of torch and kiln you choose. Check out sundanceglass.com. They sell starter kits. Also, you may want to check around where you live for classes offered. Try it out before you shell out the big bucks for the set up. Then there is where you are going to set up your studio. There will be glass shards everywhere and there must, must, must be good ventilation. My stuff is packed away right now. There is nowhere here in our lil house that I can set up where the kids won't be around it. Hopefully this summer I'll set up in our other bus that is parked permantly in our yard. lol Feel free to pm me anytime. Glass is an amazing medium to work with and you will quickly become addicted.
its not too hard, i started glassblowing a few years ago, making big things like vases and sculptures is tough because you gotta use a giant furnace, but bead torches are easier to work with. having your own studio does cost some money, i go to a nearby one.
