Has any one heard that if you are a vegetarian your hair will fall out?

Yes. But I don't believe it for a second, because the majority of Indians are vegetarian and they have tons of hair. =P

Sounds like a nutrition issue... as long as you keep to a balanced diet, shouldn't be any sort of problem.

LOL no! Although some deficiencies obviously won't help. Frankly, I think stress is more likely to make hair fall out!

I grew an amazing mane (that I stupidly cut off recently) and I'm a veggie. I also had the help of a little horse shampoo called Mane and Tail. I bought it at a farming store just outside of my old town. It is said to help with hair growth in humans. So if your worried about your hair falling out just by a bottle of Mane and Tail shampoo with conditioner of the same name. It will help you out for sure!

yea i don't really believe that either - i've been veggi for almost 5 years now and up until 2 days ago i had superlong hair (almost to my arse) then some wench at supercuts hacked it off (ARGH) and now i think i'm going to go on a mad search for some of that mane and tail (cuz frankly it's either that or rogaine)

i've been veggie for almost a year and my hair isn't falling out, plus i have dreads in which my hair would have to be stronger, cause dreaded hair falls out easier

I'm trying to grow my hair out so I'm thinking of trying this... but, i dont know if you would know the answer to this or not, my hair is dyed...If I use Mane and Tail will it strip the color of my hair ? [some shampoos can do this apparently]

being veg does not affect your hair growth either way. having nutritional issues, including ultra low fat intake can.
I've been veg for more than two decades and I have hipbone length hair.
Only a kidney infection about 10 years ago caused much loss. Even the pregnancy didn't cause loss.
The hair that grew during a really stressful time (custody battle) does tend to break, but that is weakness in the folicle.

A sudden change in diet can cause stress on the body, which in turn causes hair loss. So, switching to a veg*n diet can cause temporary hair loss (few months), but if it lasts, it is probably something else
