The bible and Muhammed(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)

As a muslim I believe that Muhammed(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) has been mentioned in the bible in the following verse we shall soon come to read -if God wills.

If I were to ask any christian if Jesus(peace be upon him) was mentioned in the old testament I would receive an affermative even though his name (not christ, its a title) isn´t mentioned. Then how can one know that he was even mentioned? Because the description falls perfect with the one of Jesus(peace be upon him). The verse in the old testament says:

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. Deu.18:15

It is not possible that this verse(even though their are other which do) speaks about Jesus(peace be upon him). This, because of a number of reasons:

"like you" In which way is Moses(peace be upon him) and Jesus(peace be upon him) alike other than being prophets and isralites?(if this is the only criteria, then the prophecy could apply to Solomon,David, Joshua(peace be upon them) etc

1. You claim Jesus(peace be upon him) is the son of Allah(may he be exalted from such claims)
2. You say he was crucified and died for all of our sins.

Not lets see what similarities we find between Moses(peace be upon him) and Muhammed(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)

1. They were both borned naturally and both had children and wives while Jesus(peace be upon him) did not marry according to you nor did he have children.
2. Their people both accepted them as prophets while they were alive and they both had a great nation while Jesus(peace be upon him) people(the jews) yet to this day deny him.
3. They both had to emmigrate , Moses(peace be upon him) to Madyan and Muhammed(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) to Medina.
4. They both died natural deaths while Jesus(peace be upon him) was crucified according to the bible and then raised up while muslims rather claim he wasn't killed but raised up, however he didn't die as normal people do.
5. Both were seen as prophets when they were grownups while Jesus(peace be upon him) was one since day 1.
6. Both broth new laws for their people while the son of Mary also followed the torah aswellthe rules but


"from among their brothers;" the verse didnt say from themselves or from the among the jews but it saíd, from their brothers. As we all know Isaacand Ishmaeel (peace be upon them) were brothers. From the offspring of one came the jews and from the offspring of the other came arabs, the bible affirms 'AND HE (ISHMAEL) SHALL DWELL IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL HIS BRETHREN.' (Genesis 16:12). 'AND HE (ISHMAEL) DIED IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL HIS BRETHREN.(Genesis 25:18).

"I will put my words in his mouth," If I would simply tell you to read a passage of a book it wouldn't count as If I was putting words in your mouth, but if I told you to repeat reciting after me then I would be "putting words in your mouth".
History tells us that he was forty years of age. He was in a cave some three miles north of the City of Mecca. It was the 27th night of the Muslim month of Ramadaan. In the cave the Archangel Gabriel commands him in his mother tongue: 'IQRA' which means READ! or PROCLAIM! or RECITE! Muhummed(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is terrified and in his bewilderment replies " MA ANA BEQARA which means I AM NOT LEARNED!(I cannot read) The angel commands him a second time with the same result. For the third time the angel continues.

Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:
Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- Taught man that which he knew not. [Quran 96]

This kind if revelation continued until the day he dies, around 23 years he received quran by having words put in his mouth. Compare this to the prophecy in Isiah: "AND THE BOOK IS DELIVERED TO HIM THAT IS NOT LEARNED, SAYING, READ THIS I PRAY THEE: AND HE SAITH, I AM NOT LEARNED." (Isaiah 29:12).

Now this following verse explains to us that the jews were awaiting 3 prophets and that this versed mentioned earlier is not speaking about Jesus(peace be upon him)

Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Christ.
They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”
He said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” [john 1.19-22]

If we were to take any bible with a cross reference such as the New american standard bible or the contemporary english version(or NIV) we would find that "the prophet" is the one mentioned in Deu.18:15 and 18.18 the verse we now have proved is not speaking about Jesus(peace be upon him)
It says in the contemporary english version:

the Prophet: Many of the Jewish people expected God to send them a prophet who would be like Moses, but with even greater power (see Deuteronomy 18.15,18).

It is clear that this verse is not speaking about Jesus(peace be upon him) since they asked him 3 questions and not 2, so whom is it speaking of? This question is for you to answer...

John the Baptist was the Elijah to come. Or atleast that's what Jesus said.

 

Well thats quite impossible... He was asked 3 questions
Was he Elijah
Was he Christ
Was he the prophet?

He answered no three times, and the one who is answering is John the baptist

Look at my first post. Its clear that the jews were awaiting three distinct prophets.. so where is the third one? According to your bible, "the prophet" is the one discussed in Deu which I think is clear now couldnt have been Jesus(peace be upon him)

And claudia, you are being alittle irrational here... David(peace be upon him) had already lived and died, the bible says that the offspring of Ishmaeel(peace be upon him) would be blessed with a great nation. I can only think of one such nation....

 

Ishmael was also cursed...pretty bad actually...according to the Torah ( ) or Old testament.

I was just pointing that quotation out, because the Quoran also says he was sinless...meaning he couldn't have lied.

What does this have to do with the prophecie anyway? You havent explained who "the prophet" is? The cross reference tells me its someone whos like Moses, hmmm interesting... ^^

 

Like I said, I still believe it's John the Baptist. Muhammed was after Bible times. Meaning after Revelation, where it said, the paragraph before the last of the Bible :

Rev 22:18-19

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

But, if I'm correct, The Koran only inhabits the OT and the Gosspels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The rest of the NT (which includes the last book: Revelation), was edited out.

 

Ryu, are you then suggesting that John(peace be upon him) was lying, because it says he denied being "the prophet"? Is it not true that there was along period of time from the revelation of the torah until the message of Jesus(peace be upon him), yet he was prophesisied?

 

Revelation was in the New Testament ( or did you mean revelation, as in...well...revelation? ).

Yes I'm suggesting that he lied. Peter denied Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed, because he was afraid of getting killed.

So why wouldn't John lie because he was afraid of the Phariseas? If the Phariseas would have found out, they would've attempted to kill him.

It is not even supported by your scholars, all the bibles Ive read who had a cross reference has said that this prophet is the one mentioned in Deu. So how can it be John(peace be upon him)?

Its ok, most of us say wrong things once in a while, the best of those who do that are those who repent from their mistakes. Anyhow, you still havent explained to be who this prophet is? It cant be Jesus(peace be upon him) since he was asked three questions

Are you the prophet? Everybody who can read and think understands that the jews were awaiting three different prophets. And as i said before, the bibles cross reference say that this prophet is the one discussed earlier i Deu and I have already shown to you that Christ is not like Moses(peace be upon him) at all.

Isaiah 42:1-13 speaks of the beloved of God. His elect and messenger who will bring down a law to be awaited in the isles and who “shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgement on earth.” Verse 11, connects that awaited one with the descendants of Ke’dar. Who is Ke’dar? According to Genesis 25:13, Ke’dar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of the prophet Muhammad(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him).

In Genesis, ch.21. Isaac is specifically blessed but Ishmael was also specifically blessed and promised by God to become “ a great nation”( I can only think of one such nation from his offspring...^^) especially in Genesis 21:13, 18.

According to Deuteronomy 21:15-17 the traditional rights and privileges of the first born son are not to be affected by the social status of his mother (being a ‘free’ woman such as Sarah, Isaac’s mother, or a “Bondwoman” such as Hagar, Ishmael’s mother).

This is only consistent with the moral and humanitarian principles of all revealed faiths. The full legitimacy of Ismael as Abraham’s son and “seed” and the full legitimacy of his mother, Hagar, as Abraham’s wife are clearly stated in Genesis 21:13 and 16:3.

One of the signs of the prophet to come from Paran (Mecca) is that he will come with “ten thousands of saints” (Deuteronomy 33:2 KJV). That was the exact number of faithful who accompanied Prophet Muhammad to Paran (Mecca) in his victorious, bloodless return to his birthplace, to destroy the remaining symbols of idolatry in the Ka’bah

Interesting... but I would say what he teached was a great prophecy it self:

During the early days of islam, the muslims were serverly oppressed in mecca until the prophet(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) told some of his companions to seek shelter with a just christian king, the king of Abyssinia(a great area of northern africa). When they arrived at the council of the king, he asked them about this religion of theirs. One of the companions answered in very simple terms:
"We were some ignorant idol worshipers. We used to eat carrion flesh, commit abominable acts, sever the ties of kinship and violate the rights of neighbourhood. The weak were crushed by the strong.

We remained on that case until Allah sent us a Messenger whose lineage is known to us. He is famous for his truthfulness, honesty, and honour. He calls us to worship Allah alone and give up idol worshipping. He exhorts us to be truthful in speech, deliver the trusts, maintain the ties of kinship, observe the rights of neighbourhood, abstain from abominable acts and to bury the hatchet to spare our lives.

He forbids us to do misdeeds, false testimony, devouring the property of orphans and slandering chaste women. He ordered us to worship Allah and not to associate anything with Him in worship, to establish Prayer, pay Zakah and fast in Ramadan. We believed in him, followed his teachings and applied them in practical life.

Is it not true that it says Christ said: By their fruits ye shall know them ?
