Let's Talk Jam Bands

please exclude really well know jam bands like the dead phish panic and the cheese...

I'll just name a couple bands you all should check out if youve never heard of them

Addison Groove Project- lots of horns, really funky and pimp, awesome for dancing, revolutionary, check out groove in green and beat me till im blue

ekoostik hookah- alot of acoustic stuff, very melodic, pleasing to the ears, check out hookahville and loner

Yonder Mountain String Band (if you havn't heard of them)- bluegrass, great harmonies, really on the rise, check out two hits and the joint turned brown and remake of crazy train

download some of that on limewire its a good program

ymsb is playing big summer classic and hookah is touring check em out

 

add umphrey's mcgee. hookah's sweet, I see them a lot because they're from ohio. ymsb's a great band as well, have seen them twice. then the big ones, moe., blues traveller. all good stuff.

 

how about Kyuss, they are sorta a jam band

 

I think Ekoostik Hookah is really underrated as far as their ability goes. I've always wanted to see them but their tours aren't very widespread.

umphrey's is awesome!! North Mississippi Allstars are good too....also, if u like the horn sound, check out Cecil Daniels...that man is amazing!

 

Awwww, man....I hate jam bands! Now thats just my personal opinion. C'mon......lets make some music here! Not tryin to piss people off, but.....yeah, I can play about 3 or 4 chords for about an hour. I really would like someone to prove me wrong?

 

ah... but have someone else solo over your three or four chords, throw in a spacey bass line, some out there keyboards, and (in some cases) some bad ass lyrics sung by someone with a lil bit o soul, and theres a jam band. congratulations, you now play rhyth guitar for _________. peace, man

 

yeah, but i'm still doin the same thing? still playin the same chords. it's repetition over and over again!? I won't say it's not good music but, it's just people jumpin in and out of some boring 3 or 4 chords!
again....tell me something more?

 

what more is there to say? ya either like it or ya dont... to each his own. not everyone likes jazz, which is essentially people 'jamming'. see it not really three or four chords. lemme try to say this, i donno if i can tho. well, here goes. take the song 'terrapin station' it has about five parts. these parts are all distinctly different. man, itd be fun to talk about this in person. anyway, hell, i forgot what i was gonaa say oh well, maybe ill remember later

I don't know if we got off on the wrong foot here but I said it before and I'll say it again...it is goood music,...I just wanted to say that I hate jam bands and maybe....well, thats just about it.
