I notice many songs that people download online are frequently mislabeled - either the song title is incorrect, or the artist's name. Too many people who download music online trust that what they are downloading is labeled correctly, when it seems like 50% of the time most of the popular, or "hit" songs, have the wrong title and/or artist name.

I have seen many people on this site mention song titles which are clearly not by who they say they are. I have heard people try to tell me that 'Stand by Me' is by Sam Cooke, when in reality it's a Ben E. King song.

On Bearshare I have seen Alice Cooper's 'School's Out' labeled as being by Pink Floyd - that one made me laugh.

What are some really f'ed up mislabels you've come across?

Alot of original Ray Charles songs say "Ruben Studdard" which confuses me greatly because i never knew ruben was alive so long before he was born to sing all those songs

I also have one song that says that Alice Cooper sang "My funny valentine"
and Kenny G did "Mango Mangue "

I never knew also that Beyonce Knoles sang "Strange Fruit"

ive seen crimson and clover labled as a velvet underground song. i can sorta see why people might see that. the song seems like it could fit right in on loaded.

I downloaded the song "Son of a Preacherman" off Kazaa, and it said the artist was Janis Joplin. I forgot who did that song, but I know it's not Janis Joplin.

I put Flower into the search bar, and Virgin Anal Rape pt II popped up.

It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

I'm not even sure what song it was, because it appeared in a search for Pink Floyd. It was labeled "pink floyd nirvana madonna rolling stones metallica backstreet boys elton john ..." and the list went on for a while.

It is annoying when you download a song and it's not what you thought it was. If I like a song enough to download it I find out for sure who sings it and what the correct title is. I would be embarassed to be wrong about a singer or song title.
