Anyone wanna make a trade, I am looking for a hand knitted tam for my husband, I will trade you a skirt or top custom made by yours truly!!
Would a crochetted tam be alright? I could do a knitted one, if you had your heart set on it. But tams are easier to crochet.
any way you wanna fix it up is fine.... were looking for red gold and green???? if you wanna make it let me know =)
red, gold and green? I could do it for you. In the same order as the Jamacian flag? Does your hubby have a normal sized noggin? Lots of hair? Basically, anything odd I should know that would effect sizing? guitarslinger: A tam is a type of hat most commonly associated with Rastifarians. Think Bob Marley. Quite often worn to contain dreadlocks.
I have a tam made in those colours already...its in my stockpile for my webstore which I am getting so close to opening...yay me! It's crochetted, and I am trying to get the camera to load the pics on the computer, but grrrrr it's not cooperating. I'll post pics later when hubby gets home and helps my computer illiterate self..
just a quick note: the colors of the Jamaican flag are green, black, and yellow . The colors of the Ethiopian flag, however, are green gold and red in that order. Some groups, ie Marcus Gavey's UNIA flipped the colors over. I could crochet a tam for you if you don't find anything that you like here or online. I crocheted the best damn tams ) ) on the gd lotfrom 94-95 when I had dreads, and even tried to make a living at it. The problem is they are so time consuming to make and good materials are a little expensive. A quick suggestion, don't buy anything made with acrylic. Even specialty acrylic is cheap and feels like you are wearing plastic on your head. Definately go for the more mellow shades of wool or at least a decent blend. If you are looking for something cool during the hot southern summer, you can crochet it so that it is more breathable.
lol. I didn't intend that toward you mama . Anyways, it doesn't really matter. I just think it is funny/interesting how the colors are confused between the two countries. I can't knit, but I have seen some sick knitted tams on Ebay.
Yeah, I realized shortly after posting that red isn't in the Jamacian flag, but didn't bother correcting myself. Figure we knew what I was talking about.
