I started to draw seriously a few weeks ago and here's my first figure: It's unfinished, because I dont know how to finish it. Has anyone studied some art and can give me some advice about whats wrong and how to finish it.
First, the right hip is protruding too much. Not sure what look you're going for, but to me, it seems as though the breasts are trying to 'deatatch.' The right arm & shoulder need to be widened. Also try on widening the left arm a bit.
It needs more contrast in value in some areas; under the left breast for example. Just remember where your light source is coming from... try to imagine the highlights and the shadows.
I just wanted to say that it's very good for your first attempt....keep practicing and I think you'll turn out some great work.
Also when it comes to shading - the darker areas seem closer. I know you are not finished, but just so you might see it - the face seems further back than the neck. It is because you have the neck so much darker and more defined. Try to be more subtle with the shading. Your proportions are off, but overall it is a good start.
i can't see it... are you drawing from life, or from your imagination.. either way have you done life drawing before? because if you hadn't i'd deffinatly recomend it.. it teaches you so much about understanding form.. i am thoroughly in the belief if your going to draw something draw it from life .. rather than from photo... your drawings become so much stronger and realistic - your brain is bascially translating a 3d object onto paper.. .. you''ll get a lot more movent and life into a piece if its from life...
I took the picture down, because after a week of drawing I could do sooo much better and dont want that kind of rubbish to be exposed as something I have drawn.
dang that!!! I was looking forward to seeing your pic!! maybe you could put it back up again and then post a new one and we can just watch you grow as an artist? good luck and enjoy!!
