It's kinda weird, sometimes when I'm meditating, I'll suddenly bust into laughter. I sometimes feel it's because I'm feeling dumb sitting there doing this, like being pretentions ("ooh, look, I'm a yogi"), but sometimes I think it's maybe an emenation of something purer... anyone else ever have this happen to them?
Yeah I've had a lot of experience with laughter while I'm meditating...I chalk it up to my colorful imagination that leaks in, or the chronic I smoke beforehand.
Less stress more joy. Seems like a great trade to me. I laugh sometimes when I meditate, I can be there for 10 minutes then after clearing my head Ill picture something funny, or Ill just be happy. Its hard to explain. Maybe its best not to question it at all. Just be happy to be happy.
yes Sometimes I laugh during meditation as well. It's totallly 'an emanation of something purer.' Our soul is eternal, and (you know it), it's joyful. You're getting more intimate with your soul and it's showing externally
i think it´s in "The Marriage of the Sun and Moon" that Andrew Weil talks about the theraputics of laughter. here´s an excerpt: "Any situation encouraging social disinhibition favors laughing fits. Perhaps the best trigger of all is the sight of someone else doing it, for laughing, like yawning, is highly contagious. A really good laughter in the right setting can get a lot of other people to join in. Done ritually and regularly, group laughing fits could serve the basis for a new system of psychotherapy or even a new religion. Wouldn´t that be nice?"
Did you know that in some places they do that? In India, I think. Huge groups of people get together just to laugh! I think that's a fabulous idea and I'dlove to do it. I don't think it would be difficult at all, considering how contagious it is, and how strange and ridiculous it is to have a huge amount of humans laughing just to laugh *chuckle*
i get this just in day to day life. i'll feel the laughter coming up and all i can do is have a little chuckle. kinda like a laughter burp
