I've been told by several people that the penalty for possession of harder drugs like MDMA, coke/crack, heroin and such is a lot stiffer than for just pot. I mean, I thought that may have been true, but they were saying that you'll get like a year in jail for having 1 rock, or 1 ecstacy pill. I thought that if you got caught with a small amount of ANY drug, you'd be spending a day or 2 in jail at most. So what's the deal?
they go by schedules, I to IV in florida based on: a) potential for abuse and b) currently accepted medical use. the list of drugs for each schedule is LOOOOONG so i will not post it here - look up the legisislation for your state.
Actually, since cocaine is a Federal Schedule II narcotic, it carries a lesser charge than cannabis...knew a guy that got busted trafficing a few keys and did no more than 9 months in the state pen!
eat some is right. cocaine is more accepted as a medicaly used drug then weed, so theres alot of times when the penalty is less then pot. Things like heroin and extacy carry heavy penalties because they dont have any real value, coke can used as an anestetic(sp?) and weed can be used as a pain killer, extacy and heroin are jsut street junk. (nothing against street junk people, lord knows what imma be into)
Here in California, we have the medicinal clubs everywhere so bud is a very light concern. Half the time they won't even bust you. It's just in the schools that they actually care.
Maybe you should check out the story of Valerie Corral's bud co-op...DEA busting in on crippled seniors with M16's over medicinal cannabis for cancer patients hardly seems like a "very light concern."
Well if it was the DEA then that's a federal case. The Californian government doesn't take it too harshly. They crack down on dealing and drugs at school just as hard as any other state, but when it comes down to people smoking on their own time, they don't always care. Trust me, I live here and have talked with PLENTY of cops.
I yearn for the day when I can walk into a diner, sit in the smoking section, and fire up a blunt to suck on while I look at the menu.

Most cops don't really care about weed, unless they are bored and feel like being dicks that day. If you get caught with up to an ounce it's prolly just going to be a night in lockup and a fine plus community service, and that's if they feel like pressing charges. I had a cop once frisk me and miss my weed, and i think it was on purpose. Y'see, I was nice and respectful and silent to the cop and he didn't feel like punishing me for just a cut. I got off with disorderly conduct for a bowl. You got a bundle of H on you though, you be fucked.
About ten years ago, when I was still in university, I went to a party. Of course, some people were doing pot. Suddenly a guy stood up and said "I´m a policeman; stop this at once, or I´ll have to call my collegues!" We just laughed at him and then started an arguement, which was so long, that we could finish the joint without problem. But what was this guy´s problem? He was invited like everybody else on the party, and he was there in his free time. Can´t some policemen just leave their job behind in their spare time?
You know what bothers me? The whole real fucked up mentality of people who want to feel like they are part of something higher by 'upholding' a law. Like people who call the cops to feel like they are part of something over something so stupid, like an unregistered car in their neighbor's driveway... yea, real cool you freaking losers. Your existance is so vital to society, chaos would ensue without you people. I almost get sick when I think about the psychological motivations behind these swine.
