Water pipe question - screens

So if the glass water pipe's bowl is a cone shaped glass bowl, a regular pipe screen does not stay in but instead slides around. How do you keep your stuff from getting sucked down into the water and wasting it?

 

either use nugs rather then shake, or you can put a screen in it, just put the screen in and hold it still when you use it the first couple times and the resin will stick the screen in place.

 

well, i say just use it without a screen, and just let the resin build up. using screens is a pain in the ass...my pipe and bong work beautiful without a screen, just pack a fat bowl!

 

if you got glass theres absolutely no need for a srceen, they actually become a hindrance because they can scrath the glass. anyways the point of buying glass is to escape tasting the pipe instead of the weed, a metal screen ruins that effect. just put a little nug in the opening and pack the rest on top

 

I have a bong that has exactly this problem, and as I always grind my bud you really need to use a screen. Try bending the screen so that it is a little concave, it will 'sit' better in the stem that way. Also get the largest screens you can - some screens sold in the UK are too small to use with a glass bowl.

 

you could always buy a glass screen too... they work pretty well... little piece of glass kinda shaped like a jack

 

The whole point of a glass pipe is so that nothing touches the burning weed besides glass. So why do people put screens in them?

Just leave the nugs intact, and stuff them into the bowl....

 

well some glass blowers are not as good as others so the hole is too large...or some people might have the same problem i did with my first glass piece, i bought it for 15 bucks off a friend cuz he needed weed money, and it was a great piece but the hole was chipped so i had to use a screen or else it would fireball like a bitch.

i agree. my friend just got one and it works really well, holds everything in there without blocking any of the smoke. and, of course, it doesnt affect the taste!

 

most of the time though i just fill the bowl and wait for the hole to get resinated... who cares if a pinch of weed gets sucked through.. its like barely anything anyways.....
