i found this awesome site earlier in the gardening forum... http://www.organicvolunteers.com which helps you locate all sorts of organic farm projects and commune like things all across the US, you can volunteer/intern and learn about them and even make some cash with a couple of them..and just learn about the lifestyle and really experience it before you just jump right into it....costs 10 bucks to join but they dont really enforce it and let you browse without paying, not initially anyway....
well one way is to google around and see who is out there...wanting to be found....try intentional communities, ecovillages, income sharing, commune ....good luck... http://www.communitymade.com/community-list.html http://www.ic.org/ http://www.dancingrabbit.org/ http://www.twinoaks.org/ http://www.heathcote.org/default.htm http://economads.com/
I live in germany right now...got out of the army a few months ago and am thinking of coming back to america in november. does anyone have any good suggestions for a commune? by the way...yummy...good research.
Twin Oaks hosts a community conference every year, around labor day. Check their website. There are lots of communities represented there and you can meet folks and get a feel for each community. There are also great workshops on all sorts of IC relevant topics, co-operative child care on site, great food, and one heck of a big dance party!
I want to live in a commune when I get older, I do not want to go into mainstream society. I just dont feel at home there.
for several of us to go to various workshops and then come here and share our knowledge ...then we could create one awesome community together!
