What's your favourites? I'm fond of Ocean Byrd myself; or stuff that involves water and birds. Peace is also a good name, IMO.

No, I'm just curious; I haven't actually changed my name...

Why can't people be considerate of other's interests?

You don't hear people calling their kids Freedom or Joy anymore... I only added the adjective to ask for names that were popular during the 60's and 70's. You're rather aggresive when it comes to controversial issues, aren't you?

It's all good; I always thought of "hippie" names to be involved with nature and the like. How about naturistic names? I dunno, lol.

Oh, and about the media labeling the counterculture of the 60's, that's correct. I don't call myself a hippie, but I do believe in a lot of the ideals and what not, but I don't claim to be a part of something other than myself.

i don't care what people say about this thread.. i'm answering. everyone knows what he's talking about. though a lot are used now as regular names.

    mine are:
    ryver hoffman (insert last name)
sunrise stream (insert last name) maybe sunshine instead, i can't decide
    and
freedom (insert last name) <- i could never find a middle name i like for this.

this is seriously what i want to name my kids when i have some... later.. in ten years. hope they don't hate me for it.

    Yay thread about naming :)

I love hippy names, not necessarily because they are 'hippy' but because they are just amazing names. They also have wonderful connitations (sp) and significance.

My absolute fave is of course Sage (never guessed huh :)) others that I love for future children are...

Boys: River/Ryvre, Lennon, Orion, Banyan, Zephyr, Zen, Zion, August, Leaf/Leif, Onyx, Justice, Dylan

Girls: Willow, Gaea/Gaia, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Juniper, Rain, Amethyst, Sunshine, Iris, Liberty, China-Rose

Unisex: Ocean, Indigo, Storm, Dakota, Moon, Blue, Sequoia, Marley, Rowan

You'd be suprised a lot of names that were originally 'hippy' such as Dylan, Autumn and Lily are now suprisingly common.

Hippy names weren't actually that common in the 60s and 70s, but I know what you mean. The classic hippy style names.

There do seem to be themes to hippy names; nature (River), musicians (Lennon), those from eastern or pagan religions (Dharma or Rhiannon) and some others that just have a suitably groovy vibe.

I love your name. Ocean just as such a beautiful sound and I love the sea. Might use it some day.

    Sage

Hey fair play, to each their own and all that.

Kieran is a great name. I plan on calling my second bunny (if it's a he) Kiran, same pronounciation but a diffrent meaning and origin.

Good to hear you like your name. :)
I don't, that's why I picked a new one. Sage just feel like it should be my name. The hippy element is not really important.

    Sage
