what do these chemicals do to our bodies?. only the other week a store had to clear its shelves of pure (supposedly) apple juice " which had a cancer causing additive in it. makes yer wonder eh ?.
It's frightening. These chemicals are used to preserve the lifespan of foodstuffs,or simply to make the colours look more palatable to the eye. Many of them are totally unnecessary. Most starched white bread is indigestable because the wheat husk is all but removed ; so the bread retains nothing of the wheat -grains. Brown bread is the only bread that is worth buying. Also white sugar has no nutricional value. The cane -syrup is all but removed.Again brong sugar is the best purchase. So much of manufactured food contains literary spoonfuls of 'sugar & salt' to make it more addictive. High blood-pressure & obesity is the end result. Food manufacturers & fast food outlets need to be held accountable for the chemicals ,colourings & additives that are added to their products.
I was given to understand that brown sugar as most people know it is actually produced from white sugar through a baking process - I'm sure you meant unrefined sugar, and I'm not entirely sure I could tell the difference if both were placed in front of me, except that I imagine unrefined sugar wouldn't feel so much like clay.
Chemicals in processed foods are everywhere. All those preservatives are chemicals aimed at keeping living things from growing on them, so imagine what they do to you after they build up over many years. Then there are pesticides and fertilizers. If you are eating any fruit besides what you grow yourself you are eating pesticides. This includes juice, potato chips, peanut butter, EVERYTHING. "Organic" produce is much better, but there is no possible way to check an even remotely acceptable % of food marked as organic to see if it is or is not. This is especially true of foreign grown foods.
i guess all you can do is try buy as much fresh and organic food as possible, i am hell paranoid about this!
This is a subject I don't even want to get started on....I could type for hours about MSG and aspartame, not to mention everything else. I'm glad you are aware of it Paul(and everyone else)because the general public doesn't seem to be,or maybe they just don't care.
not exactly in sync with this topic, but to the same affect I'm extremely paranoid about drinking a water or any other open beverage after it's been sitting out for a short time... i have this paranoia that all these germs and pollutants are contaminating it by the second... errrg...
True, because you have no idea what may be in the air. Not to mention, what is most likely in the water supply already.
I've got a pretty good book on this subject... supposedly, every body of water on the planet is polluted with chemicals from one way or another, be it companies dumping their waste, run-off from farms, pesticide sprays from 50 years ago, etc etc.. No matter where you go, you're going to come into contact with this crap, so why worry about it? There's nothing that can really be done....
yea added colors are supposed to be especially toxic and unwelcomed by the body i've read, i agree though, its totally uncesseary, seriously, coloring food? if your food looks so fucked up it has to be colored, then you probably shouldnt be eating it anyway... thats really interesting about gobs of sugar and salt being in our food to be made addictive, it makes perfect sense though, if youve ever seen supersize me where the guy eats mcdonalds for a month he literaly starts needing fixes of food to feel 'ok' again. i think this is true for all of us to an extent though, our body is just used to taking in insane amounts of food since we overeat so much and hardly ever drink enough liquid to sustain all of the bodily functions liquid is neeeded in, the body is basically liquid after all. i think its like 8 glasses of water a day is the recommended amount, not many people drink that much of anything. if you think about it, solid food is not as good as liquid stuff and we tend to stuff our faces full of stuff we can chew because its pleasing for some reason, if you ever fast you will really understand this and gain a new relationship and understanding of your body i think. guess you just gotta do the best you can and buy organic when possible. oftentimes organic brands of packaged food tend to be much more health and concious consumer oriented anyway.
i'm not just talking about hours here, though... i'm extremely obsessive about it... if it's more than five minutes I kind of freak out about it ...meh, I really need to get it under control
to add to what i've said, my paranoia about this plays little tricks on me... If I drink it after it's been out a bit, I seem to imagine these little particles floating around in it; Nevermind I can't explain it. everyone gives me major shit about it
i get paranoid like that too...i dont like leaving my glass unattended (especially if its a dark liquid) because i wont know if anything fell in it...plus theres dust everywhere which grosses me out lol when im high this creeps me out a lot, lmao
lol...that's funny. I am really paranoid about stuff falling into my glass, especially the dark drinks. I always think a bug or something will fall into it....so I will cover my glass with a CD case or anything laying around just in case.
