I have often wondered why people wonder about what makes a gay person gay. Do people stare at the left handed folks in the world and say things like, "Have you ever TRIED writing with your right hand?" "Don't you feel strange?" "Isn't there anything that can be done about this?"

Suffice it to say there are some things we are born with, there are some things we learn during our developmental years and there are some things that we will spend the rest of our lives ignoring or denying.

There's no need to ask why.

That's exactely the point I made in the thread about the pheremones study

They really need to stop dissecting everything about sexual orientation, it gets tiresome.

Once upon a time, there were more efforts to force left-handed children to use their right hands to do things. I've heard older people tell of being punished for writing with their left hands in school. So yes, there probably ARE people who get stared at and asked weird questions.

I think a same-sex orientation is so different and so alien to people that they wonder all sorts of things. Just think of the same-sex couples who get asked, "Which is the man and which is the woman?"

IMHO, gay just IS. It doesn't need any explanation or justification.

I agree that it's getting tiresome, but they're not dissecting EVERYTHING about sexual orientation. They keep ignoring bisexuals.

But acknowledging bisexuality throws away all their theories :(

But then they'll never find a cure! I assume that the purpose of all of these studies is to find out the cause so that they can cure it-- otherwise there wouldn't be any studies at all, I bet. In fact, I bet those labs are just full of self-loathing closet cases.

I mean, imagine if your job was to find the cause of homosexuality? Would you envy those who are trying to do something more important, ie: cure cancer? Or would you even be able to take yourself seriously at all?

How do you justify getting grants to conduct such studies? Do you get all of your money from the Catholic Church? And who in the hell convinces the media to PUBLICIZE these studies?

There are so many questions I have for these people it isn't funny.

The positives of those studies is that it gives "tangible" proof to people who only swear by science...or those who think homosexuality is a choice.
