Ok.. am I crazy or are people really refering to Amsterdam as the 'dam? If so, it's really really confusing (not to mention very very touristy), because when locals use that term it refer solely to the Dam square (with the white dildo-ish monument on it and the palace at the other side).. if Dutch people abbreviate Amsterdam (and this is only in writing) it's A'dam or A*dam (since star = ster in Dutch.. just think the 'm' in there somewhere ). So.. ok folks.. fill me in.. it's confusing.. what do you people mean when you say The 'Dam?
The Dam is a reference to Amsterdam when I use it. Touristy as it may be. A'Dam is another abbreviation I've used. Your points are well taken though. Sorry for any confusion.
Figures For the non dutch people... Rotterdam and Amsterdam don't get along very well Manchester - Chelsea sorta thing.. or sth.. I dunno.. tough guys and soccer.. whatever..
Well.. one of my very bests friends is from Rotterdam.. I think.. hehe.. consolidated.. we kinda avoid the topic Nah.. it's not that serious I think.. dunno.. don't care either really
