I was watching this new's station and they said Dick Cheney might run for President in 2008!!! How digusting is that?! And don't give me that, "Oh, he won't get elected because he looks evil." Remember, Dubya comes across as an idiot, while Cheney, despite seeming evil, can be witty and intellectual, when he wants to, and he is a lot smarter in debates and spinning questions than Bush ever did. Imagine Cheney president in 08. And you thought Dubya was bad.
Yeah, I wouldn't rule it out. This country has come down to that, sad, no? It's either him, or a continuation of the Bush dynasty with Jeb. Either way, pretty scary. And who do the democrats have? Hillary? I'm not so sure about that...
Dick Cheney has never really expressed any presidential ambitions, so I doubt he'd even consider running. Despite the fact that he has a LOT of power for a vice-president, he prefers to keep a low-profile rather than taking the credit. If he was considering running for president, I think he'd want to take at least his share of the credit. Also, his health and age would be a concern if he were to run. My guess is that the Christian Republicans will turn out in big numbers and will nominate a good-old-boy like Bill Frist or Rick Santorum. If the sane wing of the GOP turns out they might nominate John McCain or Rudy Giuliani.
McCain or Giuliani any demonstration of a "sane" wing of the GOP? LOL. Then the term "sane" has no meaning.
Either of them would certainly be much better than the politicians endorsed or funded by the Christian Coalition.
McCain is too independent for the GOP. I can't see him being allowed by the GOP to run. The GOP squashed him in 2000 in favor of Dubya. I wouldn't rule out Jeb in 2008. Americans are no longer bothered by royalty in the White House. .
I would disagree Kandahar, theyre just as bad and just as much corrupt sellouts to the very system that has led to our present problems. Hell, McCain lost all his supposed credibility and proved himself nothing more than a shill when he endorsed those who smeared him and then lied repeatedly to the public (and have never ceased lying) to perpetuate their agenda. And Giuliani is as dirty as the day is long. Frankly, you arent going to see any candidates from either party who have the nation's true interests at heart or would dare oppose the corporations to which they and the parties pander for financial backing.
Dick Chenney won't run, he would make himself more public by now if he was planning it, plus I think he knows the fact that he just doesn't come off as friendly enough to win the primaries. Really though, has anyone seen him since the innaguration? Just to throw in my opinion, I'm hoping for a Colin Powell run in 08, but that doesn't seem likely either.
I doubt Cheney would run,for many reasons...mainly his health issues. A lot of people were hoping Condoleeza Rice would run for president...but she says she has no interest.
The question one must ask themselves is "Are they better than the alternative?" In this case, the alternative is a Bill Frist or Rick Santorum nomination. McCain and Giuliani are certainly not saints, but they're many steps above the evangelical Christians. Me too. I love Ron Paul. But they'd never nominate him because he isn't a Christian fundamentalist, and even if they did he'd never get elected because he won't lie or feign outrage for political gain.
