actually thats not entirelly true....Hindu's worship Buddha as being an incarnation of God, as well as Jesus, Krishna, and Ram its all one god incarnated in different forms to teach people a lesson in a way that is best suited for them....if you check it out they all said basically the same thing...
haha well its good to know that you cared at one time......I'd highly recommend for you to read the new testament and focus on what jesus's dialogue...he really said some amaising things about tollerance, compassion and understanding, and whether buddha was real or not he also said some very profound things about the nature of happiness and suffering, and either way its relevant to happiness and well being
You are not telling the truth about anything, because you don't know anything about what you are telling! So yes, you are judging. Only your god can judge, so you will be going to hell. Unless you repent, of course.
i dont really beleave that he was "enlighted" because Xtains beleave that we can not get rid of our sinful nature. That said there is a lot you can learn form budda. He taught many of the same things. The only thing is he cant save you form death cuz he was not god's son.Jesus is the only savior. Still I think the princeable of rencaration is dum because to have a past life without memory is to never have lived. The colsestness you can get to enlightenment is to be a genraly good person, sreve God,be yourself, look at the bible deeper than just the surface.
I suppose that's true enough. But of the many countries that Buddhism does span, out of all the Buddhists, very few do worship him, the rest just respect him as the original teacher. Heh ... that's exactly why I'd rather worship Dog before a God that supports such an inspiring fan club. Actually, Buddha believed in reincarnation (if I am correct). Many Hindus also believe in reincarnation. God isn't the only one who can save you from death. I believe the Buddha taught that your energies change form, and ultimately pass on to other organisms, and thusly the essence of "you" lives on forever. Once you attain Nirvana, you essentially enter into a state of complete Oneness with the universe, and thus the energies you have become the universe's energies; but instead of "dying," you merge and live on as the universe in total harmony. The memory is not non-existant, it simply difficult to recall and at such a low level that they may only manifest as dreams and such. I don't believe that myself, but that is what the Buddha taught if my memory serves me.
Stop comparing Siddharta to the son of Mary. The differences between the two are extremly great and cannot be denied, their teachings collide right from the beginning where as one is teaching a multiple way of reasoning and another a one way of guidance. One has submitted to God and the other think its irrational but sees no problems for those who like to believe in Him. You could write a book on their differences, their simarities are only few.
A note from the publisher: The following passages are a portion of the teachings of Buddha and Jesus Christ that are presented to the reader in The Drum of Immortality. Buddha: "He should not regard the faults of others, things done and left undone by others, but his own deeds done and undone." Dh.50 Christ: "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" Lk. 6:41 Buddha: "He who, without anger, endures reproach, flogging and punishments, whose power and the potent army is patience, him I call a Brahmana." Dh. 399 Christ: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you." Mt. 5:44 Buddha: "Before long, alas! This body will lie upon the earth; cast aside, devoid of consciousness, even as a useless log." Dh. 41 Christ: "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Jn. 6:63 Copyright 2005 Lucky Press, LLC.
Well, that about sums it up, indeed Jesus and Buddha taught many things, just in different languages which are badly translated to our common ones. They were ultimately the same concepts, with Jesus adding in God and salvation, and Buddha adding in reincarnation and Nirvana.
atta respect people... i think buddha had many teaching that still ring true today...i too believe you can still be christain and follow some of his teachings, mainly cause his teaching are very similar to that of the Lord... and amanda, you know, you dont have to aagree with what they say, but you should stil respect it...i bet youd have a hernia if someone put "Jesus smeshus" or somthing to that effect... Do unto others
I think alot of christians see any other religious figure as compitition for Christ and must therefore be some manifestation of Satan.
i do believe that persons like "t"<<Amber>> have been put among the thinking people as a test of self-composure.
I see her more as a warning label for blind acceptence of anything. "Caution: the contents of this dogma not fit for human consideration"
Why are you people insisting on saying that their teachings were so similiar, they were totally different. The fundamental parts of the teachings of Siddharta is completly different right along with many of its aspects, its almost the complete opposite of the teachings of Christ(peace be upon him) whos main goal was the belief in one god, whos way was the only way. Its a fact, the teachings of Siddharta are way different than those of the blessed son of Mary. soulrebel51, how childish of you, altering my quote like that.
well, also Jesus preached to those who needed preaching...the moneycollectors and such...those who were not righteous needed the guidance...
