"Show Sharing" thread!! sometimes it's tough finding bands to network with - we headlined a show last week at a "hippyTypeVenue" but the 2 bands that were opening were a weird fit- we play songs about Unity, Brotherhood, Peace & Love - the first band was angry at everyone & everything -the second band was like this "have sex with us band" cuz' we are soooo cool and in babylon style with the expensive hair cuts! I will not say anything more about the actual music....however all the hippy kids (I mean conscious people) were driven away by the antics of these opening bands.....alot of them did return when we came on to do some of dat "FunkyFeelGoodReggaeMusic" but it's about coming together and creating a VIBE - ALL AS ONE -ya dig?? So this thread is to help bands (and conscious people) come together and share POSITIVE VIBES Through Good Music!! Keep it Irie!!! JAH Blessings
yeah we are in Rockford - there's a few cool hippy-friendly joints in Rockford like Mary's Place and Minglewood we play there quite often www.MarysPlaceBar.com www.Minglewood.us there's plenty of cool venues around the "I-90 strip" from WI down to Chicago - any bands that want to 'share-a-show' sometime e-mail me -so where are u now??

i'll tell my friends who still live in the area about your band....and maybe when i go back to visit i'll try and catch a show......
hehe...i remember seeing a commercial for minglewood once....just struck me as odd that rockford would have such a place......
hey Robby,,, just thought i would ask have you heard of Afro Moses? Afro Moses is a Ghanan musician, very successful travelled and played extensivley through Scandanavian Europe,, he now resides in Australia in Newcastle where im at,, and he has an amazing reggae positive vibes band, they are so beautiful. He has alota origianl stuff,,, but also does tribute Marley n Tosh stuff,,, but oh Robbie you would love this guy, he is awesome. P.S. have you heard of him?
yeah alot of people say that - like when 1st timers come into Minglewood they say "this is like something you'd only see out West" - however Minglewood is expanding the response here in Rockford has been HUGE - Minglewood now has 2 locations - Their "Head Shop" has moved to Broadway & 9th - The downtown location on W. Jefferson is now an ALL AGES music venue - they are open and serving good grub 10AM-8PM The scene is pretty hip - Rockford and any Midwest city for that matter is a lot cooler once you're in touch with the right people ( you just gotta find 'em ) www.Minglewood.com
Mary's Place is way hip - the musician hang out-the open jam scene is always thriving - great bands on weekends (and at the jams on Tuesdays&Thursdays) they have ALL THE HIPPY FAVS in the Juke Box! oh yeah and they got a Heady Steal Your Face murial behind the stage painted to look like the ivy covered wall at Wrigley Field with THE CUBS logo here's a of pic of Mary's Place during a Rollin' in the Hay show
ALSO The Disc Golf courses here are pretty Phatty...... Kryptonite has good JamBands the sound in that club is kinda weird however, it's echoey and if you've ever heard a live recording from Krypto -you hear bottles being thrown out constantly -but it's a pretty nice venue otherwise the view from the upstairs there is cool and puffin' tuff up there seems quite common ----Curly's is cool too good jams on Thursday Nights ----Too Bad Cannova's closed it's doors - that was a chill lil intimate setting www.KryptoniteBar.com
