allmusic.com is locking up my 'puter (grrrr) and my memory fails me. I need the original line ups for Jerry Garcia Band and then JGB as a separate entity. Here's why: Melvin Seals is touring JGB and the promo says "all surviving original members." I'm thinking that would be...uh... Melvin. Interviewing him soon and really don't want to ask this.
man I saw JGB about five years ago here in Vermont - the only members I remember were Melvin and Jaqueline and Gloria. After the show I gave Jaqueline the biggest hug as they encored with Shining Star and it was amazing. One of the most fantastic shows I've ever been privileged to attend.
that answer is the reality too. where I saw them was a venue that holds maybe 200 ppl. I got to meet all of them and when I met Melvin, that's exactly what I asked. what a warm and welcoming handshake it was, but to give jaqueline a hug after shining star - god damn that was special. can't tell you how many nights I've ended with a listen to Shining Star before I head off to slumber. gonna be, right there where you are, til my dying day oh babe
great rework of a song I never cared for before. Scarlet, I write for a midsized newspaper chain in Colorado www.highlandsranchherald.com The Gothic, a venue in Englewood (south of Denver..as in butted up against it south) will have them June 26. (gads I hope I have that right since I budgeted the space for the previous thursday's paper...) How bout you...what would you ask? I get into technical bog downs with gear heads too much ;P
a fellow newspaper worker.....you're honestly the first one i've met in the forums..... what would i ask melvin seals? i would ask him how it feels to get up everyday and do something you love? and how does it feel when you look out at the crowd and you sense this amazing energy in the air? geez....there are many questions i would ask melvin seals......would love a glimpse inside that man's head......
