Southern VT campin/simple livin?

Anyone know of somewhere decent to camp/live in Southern Vt? We're just fed up - just as I've been readin how a lot of others like us are here - and we're gonna pack up and take a trip for awhile.

What I'd really like to do is just sell everything I have (which isn't much, but hey), buy a tiny piece of cheap land somewhere in VT and figure out how the hell to build a cabin on it.

Has anyone decided to do this? I wonder if there's places in Vt with simple cheap cabins for sale. Geesh, I gotta start lookin into this.
