I'm not really sure if this is the correct place to post this but i could not find any where else.

okay, I have this problem with my boss. First off he has been going around telling other staff i do drugs(which i don't) maybe i've tried smoking pot but that was along time ago and i havnt told any one at work about that. I called him up and told him i've heardwhat he has been telling my co-workers and he needs to drug test me if he is going to go around telling staff and then correct himself. He was very rude during the phone call.. all he could say was "okay" and then hang up on me.

thats just the start of everything. .. heres a little background about where i work. I work in a grouphome for the mentally disabled. the Ower has two homes one in front and one in back. I work in the back home but have also worked in the front and my sister works in the front home. Anyways, my boss has a lot of family working for him. In these past few weeks my sister and other co workers supect that one of our 13 year old clients is being raped. She has warts around her vigina and butt area. and her vigina is very open. I my self and other co-works believe it to be the only male noc worker, which is the boss brother. WHen some one finally came to him he had 24 hours to report this but did not. The girl who reported it was yelled at and had her shift swithed to noc, which means now she will be working less hours and have to stay up all night for a shift no one really wants. Is this right? What should i do? All of his empolyees are very scared of him he harress us all the time. We live in fear that we will lose our jobs.

is there a human resources director for this place of employment(maybe who isn't in his family)?
and if you suspect that someone is being raped on the grounds you really should go to the police first and foremost.......if you haven't already. sorry i don't know what other advice to give you. you can however, take action with his harrassing you. make notes, keep a journal of everything and report it. usually these types of things are reported to HR but if you don't have that option then I'm not sure who to go to......i'm sure one of the lovely ladies in this forum will have some better advice. sorry things are so bad for you at work....hope it resolves itself!

Well if she has genital warts it shouldnt be too hard to find the culprit, he will have genital warts too. Tell your boss that he needs to start formal investigation (cops included) and if he doesn't you will be calling the cops, and are more than happy to call local news stations after calling the cops to let them know the story, and that the institutions owner did nothing about it when confronted with the issue. This problem is much bigger than HR...especially since you feel like a crime has already been committed. Do not let this one slide, if this is truely happening it is horrendus.

Forget about "warning" the boss or "threatening" to tell the cops and the press. If you honestly beleive that this woman is being abused at the home, you have a moral and possibly legal obligation to report it, not only to your boss, but to the welfare department.

Why would you want a job that requires you to be an accomplice to rape?

i think you have an obligation to go to the police in protection of this little girl.....isn't that the most important thing?
and if he fires people over that i believe that you can take legal action against him.

its not that i want a job like this.. i have bills. its very hard to find a good paying job here or a job at all. I'll end up being homeless thats the thing. I get enough shit at work.. i hate being there. i don't know if this little girl was really raped .. its just taht my boss is not doing the right thing .. by law he needs to report this with in 24 hours. I don't know the right people to call up about this.. It has to do with the state.

So someone raped a child, a handicapped child no less, and you are having a hard time figuring out what to do?!?! Go to the police and protect other children from this child raping bastard. I don't see what the conflict is. You can get another job if it comes down to it. If it were me, I'd quit ten jobs to protect an innocent child.

If you do get fired, you can get unemployment until you find another job.

I don't think any amount of bills I had to pay would get in the way of finding this little girls attacker. Someone needs to contact the cops, the press, take her to a hospital for evidence and then take action against this boss of yours.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the logic here. There is a little girl who may have been raped and the employees at this place are walking around on pins and needles because they don't want to get fired. She has some genital warts, who knows what else she may be infected with, and the precious time that could prevent any more harm was wasted because no one wants to lose thier job.

I feel sorry for what this little girl lost.

If this is going on you will probably lose your job anyway. It's just a matter of time. It's important to do what's right. The first thing I would do is get a free consultancy with a lawyer or legal aid and see how they would advise you.You may be able to get help for this girl and protect yourself too.You may need it.

OK, my boyfriend was in this same situation. He worked for a place that he took care of mentally challanged people. He had also noticed that one of the female patients had some "new" things poping up on her privates. He first went to his supervisor who told him that it was probably nothing to worry about. So a few days went by and things kept getting worse with the patient. So he finally called the in house doctor to come and look at it. The doctor comfirmed with my boyfriend that it was something recent and that he believed it was from having sex with someone. Well then of course the cops where called and there was an all out investigation of the situation. (While the cops where investigating all employees where told to stay home w/pay) In the end they found out that one of the house supervisors was forcing the patient to have sex with him during his over night shift. It was horrible!!!! And ya, my boyfriend had to stay home for a few days while they where trying to figure out what was going on but at least now that man will NEVER rape anyone ever again!
You need to get help, from a doctor, the cops, someone!!! Don't let some asshole ruin more people's lives. - I mean, wouldn't you want someone to help you if you where the one being raped?

If a child in the home may have been raped you need to call your state's Child Protective Services NOW! I once worked at a Group Home for Autistic chilldren, where the children were being neglected, forced to watch TV all day, and not allowed to play and sometimes even sleep deprived as punishment. I called DCFS TWICE, then I had to quit, as things got better, but the abusive people were still there.

These homes HAVE to be inspected and approved by Child Protective Services, by working in one, it makes YOU a "Mandated Reporter" meaning if you suspect abuse or neglect and DON'T report it, you can be held accountable for the abuse, even if you didn't abuse anyone. Working in this field requires putting your clients rights AHEAD of your job. Every time.

You have to call CPS today.

if nothing else, can't you make an anonymous report so your boss doesn't know who precisely reported the incident, but it will still be investigated?

Usually CPS needs to know who calls, so they can get more info and maybe help if they prosecute (which is pretty rare.) However, CPS CANNOT tell the person reported who told CPS about the abuse.
