i saw a girl in November with a faux hawk and it looked adorable. I've always been partial to long hair, and recently i got my long hair layered, kinda like ashley simpson style LOL *rolls eyes* sorry but that's the only way i can put a quick picture in your heads. Anyways, i have been wrestling with the idea of going shorter, but not SHORT, and trying a faux hawk, with long wispy sides. I think it would kinda rock. I tried to find pics of chicks with faux hawks ont he net but can't find any! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?
Yet another hairstyle I have never heard of lol. What's a faux hawk? What's a real hawk for that matter? lol....educate me
you must know what a mohawk is. a strip of hair going down the middle of your head, from front to back, and the sides shaved. well, a "faux" hawk just means a "fake" mohawk. just taking the ahir that you have and pushing it up to the middle fo your head and smothering it in product to keep it there, LOL ok that makes it sound really bad. But it can look really sweet, believe me. If only i can find a cool pic of a chicl with a faux hawk....*sigh
OH! A mohawk...yes definitely. I have done many guys hair into a mohawk. I didn't make the connection there. I can kinda invision it....sounds cool. I think you should go for it
I look in your gallery and you are so Pretty!!!! Hey I say go for It if you dont like it your hair will grow back!!
I used to have what I thought was a faux hawk... Basically, I left the top of my head (approximately 1.5 inches on either side from the part in the middle) long, and the back and sides were shaved to 1/8th of an inch. I loved it. It was my favorite haircut... But, I got a boyfriend and if I want him to pull my hair, then I need hair to pull, and people kept telling me that I looked like a white supremacist (I'm blonde). So, I've grown it back.
The only two decent examples I could really find.... I think diffkettleoffish should model for us a better example.
the second picture is basically what i mean. Isn't it so funky? i love it. Doesn't really look that great on guys, but chicks ROCK that do. and yes, i think she could sport one quite nicely with her new cut.
not knockin your style or taste, just putting my 2 cents in: faux hawks always make me think the wearer is too skeered or lame to get a real hawk so he / she poses. meh, like i said thats just my opinion though...
i've never thought about it that way, i see a real hawk and a faux hawk as two totally different styles, and i like them both. i think i like the faux hawks better cause i like messy sides as well as hair sticking up on top...picture the chick in the second pic with the sides down instead of greased back..LOL .. real mohawks are so punk. faux hawks seem more.....sweet. *shrugs* i dunno, i just diggem'
I really dislike the "long-hair" faux hawk thing that was trendy for a while there. I can't find a pic offhand, but all the hair is tied back into a ponytail except a large chunk on the top of the head. That chunk of hair is teased, clipped and "poofed up" so it looks like a mohawk. It's so ugly. But, if you're doing it with short hair, that's good. I had a mohawk in high school and I loved it, but damn, it was a lot of work to style and keep up. I heard egg whites are good, though. Good luck and post pix!
You definatly don't want to use that much gel or else it just looks wet or crunchy. If your hair is too fine to do this or too soft, don't wash it as much, mist it a few times with hairspray wait for it to dry and lightly brush over the hair, now use a small bit of pomade to work it up into a hawk then smooth down the sides bringing the hair forward with your fingers. You'll definatly want to look into buying a mousse to give the hair a little extra body and texture. If that still doesn't work, revert back to what the real punk rockers used, egg white's... You put a small ammount of this in while your hair is dry and it works like glue and doesn't leave your hair looking wet, and don't worry it doesn't smell and it's actually good for your hair.
