i just saw this movie for the first time and it was fuking awesomeeeee i luved it so much even though half the time i didnt know wtf was going on its cool, which leads me to a question or 2. 1. why ddi they go to las vegas int he first place? was it to get a story on the mint 400 but they decided not to and to just get fuked up? 2. wat was up with that whole lucy girl i didnt understand that? o well anyways i wanna see this movie wen im tripping if it was good sober cant imagine wat it would be like tripping...
they went to find "the american dream" which is sort of what vegas symbolises...the idea that anyone can walk in with nothing and leave a millionaire...it doesn't work like that of course...but thats the idea...the mint 500 was supposed to be dukes assignment...the main reason they went to vegas in the first place...but he got bored of it and decided to look elsewhere for the american dream... lucy was just some girl that his attorney picked up...i need to read the book again...it explains her a bit better...but basically she's just there to keep the attorney happy until mr duke arrives...as far as i know... it might be symbolic of something...
to be honest i thought that this movie kindof is overrated, yeah its cool and yeah they do lots of drugs but i think that much of the huge concepts that hunter s. tomson was trying to get across did not get shown. and shit there are so many better movies to watch while tripping. like this movie called the tripplets of belsville now thats a crazy movie, man. and if your going to do drugs its a good idea to get out and about and do crazy shit, like blow bubbles in the middle of the street, climb trees, pee in odd places, talk to people you dont know, thats what tripping is all about
so people like this movie for stupid obvious reasons: all the drug refrences if this is the only point you pick up on, then sadly you missed out greatly.
I most definately concur with alex714! This movie is in depth, hilarious, and a downright classic! DID YOU SEE WHAT GOD JUST DID TO ME?! take the ticket! just take the ticket! Whats thhhe ttttroubbblllle? throw it in when white rabbit peaks! oh how i love it all so dearly.
