It's pretty much how I get all my music... I use bearshare, last song I DLed was The 13th Floor Elevators' cover of Them's "Gloria"... I finally found it, and damn, its one of the best covers I've ever heard !
Music downloading is way better than paying for CDs. If musicians didn't live in mansions already, I think I'd feel a lot worse about downloading, but you know, they aren't hurting because I download their songs. If it starts causing children to starve, then I might stop. Until then, nope. I use WinMX...it's okay, I suppose, but there are better platforms out there.
i use emule, i download whole albums at a time (convieniently archived). i use winmx to download single songs. i hate bearshare. i don't care if its stealing, all the cds i actually bought cost money stolen from me by the record companies. im just getting a little restitution (at the rate of about 10 albums a day.)
I can't download whole albums, they're much too big .... I've only got 56k but I still get 60 to 70 songs a day, sometimes more.
I only ever download music of bands if they are already really fucking rich. Like i dont see stealing Led Zeppelin's or Bob Dylan's music a crime, it doesnt matter to them if i dont buy their music(still do though). But, If they're a new band I'll go out and buy their album to support them.
I use Limewire Pro Last song I got was this morning. A bootleg live Yes song from 1975 called "Gates Of Delirium"
I use Soulseek. I don't think downloading is wrong (at least not in my case). I spend all my money on dvds, plus most of the music i download is not available here in my country. And the artists that are available (the beatles, bob dylan) have earned enough money i think. CDs cost way too much.
