Hi I'm new to this particular board. My mother refered me to this site and suggested I ask for some help from Brighid and Maggie Sugar, hope I got those names right, or whoever else can help me.

    A little background:

My dh and I have been ttc for a year and a half. We've had 3 early m/cs in that time with the most recent on monday. I'm very upset over my doctors additude and intelligence on this subject and I am going to find a new doctor but in the mean time I have to figure out a way to deal with things or sit out and wait to ttc again after I manage to get a new doctor. I very obviously have a lack of progesterone issue proven by progesterone test. But my doctor refuses to put me on a progesterone supplement after ovulation until after I have a blood test to confirm a pregnancy. I find this completely idiotic! (No offense to anyone in the medical field) My outrage at this is because of the fact that we started to m/c while waiting for a blood test to confirm what 6 home test had already told us.

So my question is since my doctor is reluctant to put me on the progesterone is there a progesterone supplement I can take on my own? I know that they sell progesterone cream but I'm not sure how effective it is or which one I really should be taking. Or maybe there is something else that would help.

I'm sorry this is kind of lengthy but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

I am so sorry about your lost pregnancies. (((((hugs)))))) It is so hard to lose a wanted pregnancy.

I wouldn't treat yourself with hormones, though. I would find a good fertility specialist who will know how to deal with the repeated miscarraiges. A University Hospital is your best bet for good medical care, and they are the most up to date.

Many womyn do go on Proges to help prevent miscarraige, but I have no idea about the dosage, and I know that certain tests have to be performed to make sure that is the problem.

Seeing a good fertility specilist (most Internists, Fam Prac and OBGYNs have little training in infertility treatment.) The fact that you have miscarried so many times, and your doctor refuses to do anything is a HUGE warning flag. DUMP HIM and get someone from a good University Hospital.

Good luck. I am so sorry for you losses.

    Love and peace,

    Maggie

Thanks for the input Maggie. I did call yesterday to schedule two consult appointments with different docs in the area. So I'm gonna check them out and see how they feel on certain things and what they feel our next step should be. I'd love to go to the RE at the University clinic but being that it is an hour and a half away its just not a very good option right now. The one clinic I have an appointment with works closely with the university and does alot of local labwork and stuff for them so hopefully I feel comfortable with them.

    Thanks again for the input.

I'm so sorry for your loss...and I'm sorry your doctors are not taking this seriously.
For now, start drinking red raspberry leaf tea. You can drink as much as you want, hot or cold. It is a uterine tonic, and helps regulate and balance the levels of progesterone and estrogen. Wait a few months before trying to conceive again, not only to let your body heal, but to let yourself grieve and recover emotionally. Take a folic acid supplement, and take a vitamin E supplement as well. Add some nutritional yeast to your diet, all these vitamins are essential to suporting a healthy reproductive system and pregnancy.

Where do you work? Where do you live? Are you being exposed to toxins in the environment unknowingly?

Thanks mom. Can't wait to see you either!! Not looking forward to 6 hours in the car but will definetly be well worth it!! By the way you need to update little man's pic. That one is almost a year old.

Thank you Brighid. The only thing you suggested that I'm not doing is the vitamin E and the nutritional yeast. My FIL was bagering us last week to buy Brewers yeast. Is that the same thing? I'll have to check into that. I'm a SAHM so I know it's not a work related thing on my part. But dh works for ADM a corn processing facility and I know he unintentionally brings "stuff" home with him. Also as my mom can tell you, the area I live isn't exactly the healthiest. We have numerous factories in the area and a nuc plant less than 45 minutes away. But I know that can't be my whole problem because the two m/cs last year took place in Arkansas and we have lived in Iowa for about 7 months now. And I lived here when I got pregnant with DD and DS and for the most part those pregnancies were fine. My doctor did inform me in December that according to my chart my progesterone level was a little on the low side with ds and even lower with dd two years later.

In actuality I think my whole problem goes back to the stupid Depo shot I took after the kids were born. I had nothing but problems with it and my body hasn't been the same ever since.

Anyways, thanks again for the advice and input and I'll definetly be checking into the things I am not already doing.

Angela didn't tell you the whole truth about where she lives. She actually lives in a triangle between three nuclear plants. It's a very unhealthy area. I've often said that it drains the life blood out of you. That's why I don't live there any more. I grew up there. Angela grew up most of her life there. It's pretty nasty.

Talk to the people at Greatest Grains. They'll be able to show you the best nutritional yeast.

And yes, I'll get a new picture up as soon as I remember how to do it.

Well maybe we'll have to make a trip down there while your here. Need to find something that will work for kennedy's exsema without making me break out in hives. The lavender works wonders on her skin but I break out from even the smell!
