I was thinking. The U.S. is the hippiest place to be. Think about it. We can do basically whatever we want without people telling us how to be, or how to live. Sure there's commercialism telling us what to be but who needs it. Anyway. where else in the world can we be that we can be ourselves as much as we are here. i would have to disagree with the people that say bush should leave. he may be in iraq for the wrong reasons, but he is still fighting for people to be themselves and to be able to do what they want. there arent many societies that gives us that. all im saying is think about the great place we live. im sure some disagree and thats ok too, we are all entitled to our opinion but think about every angle. what do you think?
I think you have the right general idea... The original hippies... At Woodstock, what did they hold up? Did they burn the American flag or did they hold it up to be PROUD? I love America, I just know there are things that need to be changed... Ya dig?
Yeah.... But you know, no one should be so full of themselves that they boast about American at all, ya dig? I hate that. "God Bless America!" (But fuck everyone else)? America's groovy, but we need to help the people that need help for real... Perhaps we should start HERE? ~Peace~
You make it sounds as if everywhere in the world people are fenced from the freedom of being totally themselves. You seem to not have experienced much of the world but for new demonstrations America is a good hippie place. The so-called democracy has only existed to let us be free of saying whatever we want but to what we are told. "Free in mind" but outside there’s no such thing, as “can do whatever we want” without consequences.
i can say i half agree with what your saying. we do have a HUGE amount of freedom compared to other countries. i dont think we should be in iraq at all. its a war that we shouldnt have started or been involved in. in my opinion it wasnt our war to fight. im sick of america feeling that they have to be the world police for everyone elses problems. why must we be the ones always giving money or sending troops to other countries? sorry for the rant.
My thoughts exactly. I come from Sydney, Australia and it's pretty damn great here too. Don't get me wrong though, I want to visit America desperately! I will concede that America is the coolest place on the planet when it comes to the hippie movement and late 60s/early 70s history/popular and counter culture. It was a very tumultuous time, but because so much went on it must have been very interesting and invigorating to live in those times.
Maybe you should spend a day as a Black person in Florida. Make that election day and while you're staring at your punchcard ballot knowing that you are 900% more likely to have your vote not be counted than a white person... tell me about freedom in America. Maybe, just for kicks, you could decide to exercise your right to assemble... if you can get a few words in between dry heaves from getting too much mace in the face I'd maybe like to hear your speech again. One more time when you are sentenced to twenty years for smoking dope... America isn't free.. it's cheap.
I think one of the problems in the U.S. is that 2 many ppl assume it's the greatest superpower on the planet and that for that reason americans can do whatever the fuck they want in other countries.
America is THE only super power... unless you count the Chinese, but at this point, NOBODY can count the Chinese.
When amerika falls (which it will pretty soon), china will rise and it'll be a new cold war all over again
