CAN YOU BELIVE HE SAID THIS:
" Rock is bad, gay people are worse, and women should stay at home and cook."

Yeah, they kind of lost me on that one, too. Maybe when he dies, they can find an old italian ex-brownshirt to be the next pope.

First of all, while I'm not a Catholic and don't appreciate his conservative views, I don't think it's fair to say the Pope was a Nazi. In Germany, it was mandatory for any young man to be a part of Hitler's Youth. He abonded the army at a time when Germany was shooting deserters and became an POW by the Americans.

So, yeah, picking a German Pope the day before Hitler's birthday wasn't the best idea in the world, but to say he was a Nazi is unfair. Yeah, he was in the Hitler's Youth, but he never advocated or even approved of, Nazism. I was hoping we'd get a more liberal Pope, but seeing as how we didn't, it's not as if we have to deal with this guy for ALL that long, he's 78, LoL.

Im going to second what Rider said. My grandparents were in germany during ww2 and they were members of the hitler jugen, but then again so was every kid. If you werent, you got beat up every day until you joined (my gramps words). There was hardly a choice in the matter.........

I don't really care about the pope since I'm not catholic, but John Paul II was someone I liked for some reason. He just had a good aura about him I guess you could say.
