Hi guys! ::waves:: I make a lot of bags, but I always get paranoid about the straps. I carry A LOT of (heavy) junk & I'm always concerned about the straps breaking. I usually sew them right into the seam, doublestitch & ghetto surge (zigzag stitch), plus I make sure to keep safety pins with me just in case.

Does anyone have any other ideas on reinforcing them?

    Thanks!

    xoxo

What i do sometimes if it's like a half moon purse...is keep the sides of the moon a little longer...i sew 2 pieces of fabric for the strap and when i turn them the right way, i stuff that excess fabric into the tube..then i sew like a box w/ an X in it to secure the strap to the bag...it works pretty well..but these are smaller purses...here is a picture...

~*hey ~ for my bags i just do an *X* in a box too and i've never had any problems with the straps goin' kaputz from the stitch ~ use a tight zigzag for a stronger strength or a tripple straight stitch ~ that should do the trick! i carry like 20 vinyl records along with a few books in my sacs and they are friggin' heavy!! oh ~ and although its pretty obvious to me use nice thick strong material for the straps and where it will be attatched too ~ i hope that helps!*~

I also have an obsession with bag making and I do what prairiepixie and others said, the 'x-box' and that has always worked.
