I just had a horrible thought! I went out to the kitchen and was gone for about 5 minutes when I ran back to my bedroom realizing I left my window partly open and my guitar in plain view!!! It was still there. Wow, I don't know what I would've done if for some reason some one had snuck in and stole it! My window in kinda hard to get to with the bushes and plants all around but still! Man, I'll never do that again! Anyone had their 'baby' stolen before? It sucks.
Well, I don't live in a city, although I live downtown in a little hickass town. I went out to get tea a couple hours ago, left the door unlocked and the window open myself, I walked to my room on the back wing of the house, it's kinda seperate from the rest, but attached in a hallway, added on. Bah, I love the color, but Heritage Cherry Sunburst can be a little eyecatching from a couple hundred feet away. I don't think anyone would mess with it if they did get in, as the output jack is cut off. I'm putting a new switchcraft in as the stock one keeps shorting out, I'm also going to wax pot the stock pickups and sell them on ebay, I'll probably find some better PAF reissues instead of Burstbuckers. I've been considering a Larry Carlton signature 335. I had an amp stolen before, nothing too special. It was a Peavey Classic 30 at my grandmother's house that someone stole after she died. I kept it there with a telecaster because she liked CCR and asked me to play sometimes. Hah, if they found my twins I wouldn't have much reason to live. Though, if I got a Bluesbreaker or a nice used Dumble head from insurance, I probably would have reason to live...
I think you deserve a Larry Carlton 335! I think those guys that played with D. Fagen were incredible. He had some great musicians in his band and some great guest too. Becker, Baxter, Dias, Ritenor (sp) I had a peavy stolen from me too, but when I look back on it, it forced me to upgrade to a Fender chorus. I also lost a Crate (original wood) amp. Hey you ever play a 'Line 6' I know a guy that has one and if tweaked right can get some incredible sounds. I guess its pretty good at duplicating Marshalls, Fenders, Dumbles, rotating Leslie. Syd, I bet you freaked! did ya kill him for that! haha
Haha, I have a Cyber-Twin that's my workhorse and my dad got it for me after I blew a Hot Rod Deluxe (I've gone through a few amps). I also have a twin reverb that was a blem and I got it cheap. I put in another speaker in the Deluxe and got rid of it. I'm superstitious when it comes to equipment screwing up. I want to get rid of my les paul. Once I fix it, I get rid of them as I don't trust them. So far the only things that haven't gone out on me are Fenders. I've learned and done tech work since I was 12 or 13, but it's such a pain in the ass to have to deal with shorts and all of that. If I can conclude one thing, I put a lot of pressure on my equipment, but I wouldn't buy something new if someone paid me, anymore. It's like a house. I don't trust new houses as they have to settle and they don't build them like they used to. Just because it's old doesn't make it good, but even though people can't stand 70s Martins, my '74 D-35 is the best acoustic in terms of playability. I can't play something new as I feel like it's always going to screw up anytime and it isn't broken in... as soon as I get a new fender, I have to sand the neck just so I don't get bad vibes while playing. I also can't stand the white look of new maple necks on those damn new contemporary strats. I don't have a problem with an MIM 50s strat, though, but I still have to relic them. I've gone through three or four Fenders, I'm still searching for the right one. I've owned one Gibson, and it's a piece of shit that I bought new. I don't think I'll ever buy new again. I bought a Guild 12 string that cracked a month after I got it and I kept it humidified with a hygrometer. I talk to other people and they say it's happened to them too.
Pretty much the same with me... I keep my guitars on String Swings in next to my bed on the wall... if I can't have them in view or in my bed, I won't sleep. When my cousin spent the night here and I had family visiting, he had my Martin down in the basement so he could have something to play and I pulled an all nighter because the wall looked strange with a guitar missing. Couldn't get used to it.
One time my cousins place was broke into and the only thing they took was his gibson Les Paul. now that i look back at that i relize how bad that would suck
Same here.. both my guitars are always at the foot of my bed (couch). Atleast he's got a life that doesn't revolve around drugs and wannabe-hippieness.
They can take anything they want as long as they don't touch my CPU and my Martin. I don't think they'd take the Martin. It's worth more than any of my guitars (brazilian rosewood centerpiece on the back that got mistakenly put in, I believe), but most people wouldn't know that...
Damn George, you are seriously a guitar nut. Not that thats bad thing! I reckon it's great someone could devote their life to a single instrument.......
soulrebel51, lmao to bad you have NO clue what kind of person i am. Dont be upset because your hated around the board, dont think so? i know quite a bit of people who can easily agree. keep your shit talk to yourself. AND did i say it was a bad thing that he likes guitars so much?
hey, i dont hate chuck, in fact... hes prolly the coolest guy here ive met. but im just one guy, not 'the forums'...
