i'm going on a trip up to the yellow stone national park area with my family in early june i think, right after school gets out. i'm really not too excited about it because we're driving and i have to spend all that time in a suburban with my annoying lil sis and my mom who is always complaining, but my dad's totally stoked about it. has anyone been? i hear it's really cool, can anyone tell me about some trips they're been on up in that area or any other places we could check out while we're up there? peace & love.
Yellowstone is my absolute favorite vacation destination. It is absolutely amazing there, and completely worth spending the time in the car. Where we stayed, there wasn't anything to do but go into the park, and then at night we spent time at this wolf/grizzly sanctuary. But honestly, you won't want to do anything else once you see the park. Just remember to bring assloads of film.
I love Yellowstone, but if you can convince your parents, definatly try to get to the Grand Tetons as well... it's not all that far away. Glacier National Park is my favorite but that's a haul- northern Montana along the Canadian border. The best thing about all the landscapes up there is that they almost look painted. I still look at pictures of me and my family on top of mountains out there and the mountains in the background look like they're on canvas. It's really amazing.
There was once a time when people would see a picture of a beautiful landscape and say "gosh, it looks just like in real life", but now people see a beautiful landscape and say "gosh, it looks just like a painting."
trippin, that's true. lol. thanks everyone. i think my dad said something about the grand tetons, but i donno if we're going there. i'll talk to him. peace & love.
i just got this like trial-issue of backpacker magazine, and they had a feature about yellowstone, it looks really beautiful out there, id love to backpack it one of these days
I actually think it has more to do with my paranoia that my life is the Truman Show.. at least for me. I remember distinctly thinking it looked painted though because the colors were almost muted. It's hard to explain... plus I'm an Appalachian girl so the Rockies are a completely different deal for me. Trips like that I build up into almost a surreal state when I'm there. I think the same thing when walking the streets of New York City.
