I'm planning an excursion to Costa Rica this summer. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice, or warnings to pass along?

    Or sites not to miss?

Montezuma!!! 6 hours from San Jose on a bus to Puntarenas, an hour on a boat and another 40 minutes hitchhiking to Cobano, walk down 4 km to the beach, it's a fantastic little town, tons of great food really cheap, $5-$10 per night for rooms on the beach, 50 ft waterfalls to jump into!!

Also Punta Uvita, Manuel Antonio (rainforsest adventures) and Playa Hermosa are great. There's a little artist town called Sarchi I think , but it was one place I didn't make it to.

Last year I spend 6 weeks alone there, sleeping on hammocs and hitchhiking.. best experience, ever! highly recommended, and I'll be going back once a year if I can make it! you can live on a thousand dollars for a couple months, easily!

Hey people wanting to go to costa rica, there is a ton of cool stuff to volounteer for regarding ecology and such. The people you wanna look up are the MINAE (ministerio nacional de ambiente y energia). They have tons of volunteer programs for tourists in national parks and what not. I lived there for 10 years and if i wasn't in Iraq i would be there right now. Anyways, if you have any questions about Costa Rica i got answers. There have also been alotta kidnappings in Limon regarding tourists, especially Puerto Viejo, my advice is travel with a buddy and learn some spanish. If you go to Montezuma or Mal Pais you'll have a really good time. Hope this info assists you in your travels.
