ok so i barefoot quite alot...and i only wear shoes at work and on the way to college really.have been barefooting really for about a year now and for some reason wenever i haveto wear shoes i get a terrible rash and my skin just kinda peels or cracks!!! ouchness! looks kinda nasty too! so what can i do to stop it or help it heal quicker?
What part of your foot is the peeling and cracking on? I find that my heels crack easily, I use calendula cream to help it. If anyone knows how to stop this in the first place, please tell me. Alex
Arlia, it sounds like a textbook case of athlete's foot. Here's a good link on the infection, and from there you can get some ideas on treatment. http://my.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/sta123342.asp?navbar=aa12924 A lot of folks think that going barefoot, you can't get these infections. But since you still have to wear shoes part of the time, you're still picking up the fungus with your feet, and it's then breeding in your shoes. Luckily there are a number of inexpesive OTC remedies for the infection. Cracked heels are usually just overdried skin, and this is one of the things that those of us who prefer not to enclose our feet in shoes must struggle against. It's a combination of exposure to the environment and the pressure we put on our heels when we stand/walk/run. There are a few foot creams out there that are specifically targeted at cracked heels, but other skin creams should work just as good. If you're barefoot most of every day, I highly recommend some kind of cream/lotion to keep your skin healthy. There are some good ones with UVA/UVB sunscreen built in as well, for those who get a lot of sun exposure.
I love to be barefoot, and I quite frankly love my feet. I go around my home, and yard barefoot 100%. When I am out in public, I wear my flip flops. Sometimes, I will go barefoot to a few places. The way I keep my feet nice, is that I wash them quite often. Kepping them very clean helps prevent fungus, and disease. Also, before bed every couple nights, I use this lotion. The best stuff I have ever found. My feet are very soft and smooth thanks to this product. I highly reccommend it!
I agree! That is the best lotion ever! I'll wash and pumice my feet, and then put this lotion on them and put them in socks...and it makes your feet so much smoother and softer... it is a must for every barefooter!
I go barefoot whenever I can. When I can't I wear my birkis, and I use Burt's Bees Foot Care Kit ($12 US). It's the best product I have found, and it comes with excellent socks to hold in the creme. Scrub up, use your pumice, have a partner or friend (if availiable) apply the creme with a bit of massage- go up your calves a bit, too, and put on the socks before bed. In the morning, wash up again, and you've got soft footsies for a good week. Great stuff. I love being barefoot! deb
its mostly my heels! grrrrr!!!! i ahve used lotion but it dont seem to do anytihng and it really stings!
ah hello, i sometimes get horrible cracks and stuff on my hands if i don't dry them properly after i just washed them and they used to really sting when i put lotion on them......perhaps its that, just a thought tho, never know
I wouldn't use ANY lotion until you clear up the infection. I don't know if it would make things worse, but I can't see how it would help. I use the freeman lotion too, as well as another called "California Feet" which smells like mint ice cream! Although I have to say that I think the BEST stuff is from Bath and Body Works i think...it's called Shea It Isn't So, and it's full of Shea butter which is great for your skin. It's pricey lotion though, so I use that maybe once a week, and the cheaper stuff to fill in the rest of the time.
I like this stuff called Badger Foot Balm. It comes in a round tin and is kinda like lip balm. Smells really good, is totally natural, and feels great. It is so far the best "lube" I have found for giving foot massages. OMG is it good for that! It's not greasy or oily, doesn't drip, but it gives a great release from friction. It's supposed to be very good for the skin of your partner's feet... -Jeffrey
Sounds good, although im willing to bet that youd have great feet weither you put that stuff on them or not. I mean a nice and good looking person like you probably naturally has good feet. All that stuff probably does is just makes em even better. Anyways just thought youd like that.
Sounds like your shoes are giving you a fugus. Get rid of those shoes and get new ones. If you wear socks with those shoes get rid of the socks as well. Get a hydrocortisone cream and apply it to the affected are and the problem should go away. Hope this helps and keep those feet bare! Luv, hipmom
well iv not been wearing my shoes for ages now! and my feet are fine )))))))))))))))))))) im jsut sick to death of them! sandles are all my feet can handle!LOL
Yeah, keep your feet out of shoes as much as possible. The times I've had to wear shoes (even sandals) regularly (such as for a job) I've almost always had problems, then they'd go away soon after returning to going barefoot all the time. Some of the problems I've had from shoes included Plantar Fascitis, itchy smelly feet, etc. Shoes are gross. Imagine all the rubber trees that would be saved if people just stopped wearing them. BTW, I like your pictures- you look great as do your feet.
yeah my feet stick to my sandles! i dont like it! but iv not been wearing shoes through college all day so far! my feet are very happy today!
