Im not into piercings that much but i've always had a thing for labret piercings (I hope im talking about the right thing here...a piercing such as a spike through the part under your lower lip) and im thinking about getting one when I turn 17. Anyone here got any info or helpful stuff about those sorts of piercings? Any negative things about that sort of a piercing?
I love labret piercings, they look gorgeous. I've had one for.. 6 years, I think, and I've never had any problems with it. The only negative thing about it is that it can start wearing out your gums, and gums don't grow back. I'm dreading the day I have to get the piercing out, coz I love it and I feel so bald without it.
Yea, I have mine aswell. It does wear your gums down if you have the post in instead of the ring.... if you get it posistioned properly though it shouldn't bother you. Other than that and the clinking on your glass it's all good. ...I do take mine out periodically though. I ussually put it back in before it starts to close
i want to get a lebret . im getting my first tattoo in oct and im stretching on of my ears and geting a lebret soon after
Actually a ring poses much more risk than a labret post. The labret post will be a much wiser choice in the short and long run. Not only does it promote better healing, but it can be more accurately positioned to avoid the gum line and therefore prevent gum erosion. Also, during healing, scarring can build up around the inner hole of the piercing in the inner diameter of the ring as it is being pulled and rubbed, and scarring can also build up on the opposite side of the piercing where a gap is left between the outer surface of the ring and the flesh. So a labret post is by far the better choice. Plus rings are incredibly mobile and getting knocked around during healing is a bad, bad, bad thing. neonate:: http://encyclopedia.bmezine.com Great resource. Look up labret piercings on there. Also, I think this new encyclopedia includes the risks resource, unlike BME's old dictionary, but if not, go to http://www.bmezine.com and check out the risks section as well! <3 BME. Mostly though your labret-specific risks will be limited to erosion and possible embedding of the disk on the back of the labret post in your lip (if improper jewelry is worn, i.e. too short). Then the rest are general risks like migration, infection, keloiding, et cetera. None of which should happen if cared for properly, with a gentle sea salt aftercare, non-alcoholic mouthwash (I <3 Biotene), and general cleanliness and gentleness! I want a side lip piercing with a labret post. *sniffle* Oh so badly.
I had a labret piercing for about 7 years....took it out last year as my gums were wearing down. Loved it while I had it, but it was time to move on. Originally had a ring in mine, but after a year or so opted for a stud/post. There are loads of cool attachments out there for labret posts, if you fancied something different. Things to look out for are clinking it on glasses, as already mentioned, plus you kinda have to learn to eat and drink a little differently....nothing major, but depending on whether you have an overbite (like moi!), you might find you keep catching it on your teeth when chowing down. I always loved spurting water out of mine.....nice way to freak people out, if that's your thing.
labrets are great.. i've had mine for about 3 years now... it doesnt really hurt.... could actually ffeel this piecing... its like a little prick.. and thats it... but what really sucks is when you're jewelry falls out... and you later in the day try to put another post in... and its already shrunk.... and you gotta stretch it back to its size..... that SUCKS!!!!! it hurts like a bitch
I have NO complaints at all about mine!!! It didn't hurt really at all (as opposed to other percings, i guess). It was weird eating at first...it kept getting caught on my bottom teeth, but that stopped in about a day. It healed in about 2 days, and it has been all good since then!
I've had my libret pierced twice. The first one got infected only 6 days after I had gotten it due to a surfing accident. I got it again a few months later and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! Some people get offended for some reason about it and say that it is "defacing your body" but more people are curious about it. I always get asked if it hurt, which it really didnt, only throbbed afterwards but what wouldn't after that? And if you don't like it, mine the first time closed up in 20 minutes... no lie! GO FOR IT BABE!!!!
honestly, i had mine peirced and it annoyed the shit out of me.. not trying to be negative, i just wanted u to know that it depends on the person.. u will just have to see for urself
a friend of mine got her labret done and it started to pull the skin down on her bottom gum line.. ouchie... she had to take it out... i think they look stunning though. i like smaller studs, rather then huge balls O' steal
I've had mine for 4 years now & had noproblems, all the advice before here is all good, good, good, if you look after it it will be fine just keep it in for 10 -12 week before you change it & it will be ok
I recently got my labret done. I was more nervous than in pain. It hurt, but it's bearable. It's only sore for a few days and if you take good care of it, it will heal nicely. I recommend it!
