I just got a great deal on a Dr. Z Prescription Head. I probably should have been a bit more prepared, but I didn't really think of all the particulars. I've only dealt with combos, so I'm not really versed with all the particulars of stacks. I might not have enough cash for a cab, well a cab with tone, for a while. Could I just drive my 65 watt combo with the head for the mean time? If not, could anyone help me find a cheap/quality 2x12 or so cab? I know that's asking a lot. Thanks anyone.
Thats a great amp! Congrats! I'm not familiar with particulars of the Prescription head, but you need to know the ohms (probably 8 or 4, maybe 16) You need to know what your speaker or cab is at. These two numbers need to match up. Both should specify somewhere on the back. Mixing ohms can fry cables, tubes, etc...bad news. If they match up, go for it! I would very highly suggest Avatar cabs. Used they can be had for under 200 for a very nice 1x12. Try harmonycentral.com for classified ads, there are usually a bunch. Good luck.
Thanks for the helps guys. I ended up getting a 2X12 150 watt Carvin. Seems like plently of power. Just hopin' that I'll have enough clean headroom before that tube saturation pours on too much.
