I was just wondering what you guys think of this?
I personally think that it would be an awsome experience for children. In today's society, school is so screwed up, I think that this would be the smart way to go!Of course, home school would be the method used so that nothing will be missed.
I just think that it would be a great way to teach kids how to respect nature and meet some great people!
Of course, if my kid wanted to go to school, I wouldn't say no.
It just scares me the way 9 year olds are treating eachother and having sex and crap already. I don't think that this is a way of sheltering them, but showing them that there is a beautiful, different way of life out there than what society shoves down their throats!

I've thought alot about this lately, not that we're expecting, but we are standing on the verge of getting married. I would love to home school our children, if we have any, with lots of chances for "field trips", much like what you're talking about. I think it would be an awesome way to learn for the kids, and a great bonding experience

I think it would be an awesome experience, although some might argue about the issue of stability in a child's life due to the constant change of environment.

However, I think that had I myself experienced life like that while growing up, it sure would have been pretty amazing! :)

    Good luck!

well, gypsies (or Romani) have been carrying on in such a way for the past several hundred years, and their kids seem to manage. Its not so much the location as it is the people. If the location changes, kids can deal. but not changing people. Thats why kids in foster care have so many psychological problems.

hi guys, I ran a nomadic commune with my child on board, she was just over 2 at the time, she loved it, the thing is when travelling with kids you really have to be carefull about local athorities..childrens aid children services that sort of thing...society does not look highly upon this sort of lifestyle but even more so when kids are involved, THOUGH as long as you can prove food shelter bathing and that sort and the ability to provide the problems those sort of groups will give you are limited. I met a familty a few years ago this couple had five kids we met them in kelowna BC at a provicial park, they travelled around following fruit picking work sheri would home school the kids in the park and allen would go and work, they lived out of an old volkswagon...man those kids were so well developed ...

I am all for this though another concern is age, I wouldnt take a child under two it would suck for them always strapped in a child seat..

I know in some communities there are laws preventing living in boats or vans or buses even RV's

    be safe

I can understand the concern for nourishment and bathing, but other than that, they should leave people who choose to raise their kids in an alternative fashion alone. we're just turning more and more into a dictatorship when there's laws preventing how people want to live their lives. It makes me sad.
About the age thing, yeah, I wouldn't take a child under 2, either. I may travel a little, but nothing extensive. I would feel sorry for the kid being trapped all day in a car or something.
I was thinking of this for when they were a little older, like 4-5 to start at, when they can run around and explore the area, not be completely confined to me or daddy.

well then you may be interested in what highway child is evolving into. previously the max kids we had with us were 4 at one time, even my wife and child got off when lindsay became pregnant..

but what we are planing is a more caravan type setting, the rulles still apply and so does the voting, decision making as well as economic structure. though we want to include two more buses for strictly familes. in reality the way gypsys live without children differ greatly from the way we travel with them, as well as the inluences we want to expose our children to, as well as quiet time meal time...ect
so were building additional buses for families ( they wont get any miles under there tires for another year) but I have to make it as child friendly as possible bathing tubs lowered seating cushion railing for the beds
oddly kids adapt much quicker top walking in a viechle then most adults, none the less the carpentry has to be built with small c hildren in mind...

so anyway this is our plan right now, lindsay will be starting a post in the next little while forming ideas and generating concepts for better ways of organising this...if your interested let us know

    peace

    oh adela
I wanted to post what you wrote
yeah gypsies have been traveling with kids for over a thousand years (Roma) is only one small gypsy cast from eastern eroupe
in 1955 the Un stoped the migration of gypsies in many countries because laws came about forcing children to go to school, though now we have come full circle and we can again home school our kids allowing us to reclaim our heritage.

though times have changed a bit and I wouldnt make my kids sleep under the bus.....
none the less it is a cool day we live in
