Well, I have a special bond with ear candling. My ears suck when it comes to getting rid of ear wax so I have to go to ear speicalist to have to ear wax scraped from the inside of my ear. He takes a small hook on the end of a long pole (kind of like a dental pick) and carefully scrapes the ear wax from inside. This is very painful because ear wax eventually connects with the skin in your ear (like a scab) so when he removes the wax he also removes chucks of skin. It really feels like ripping a scab off the most sensitive parts of your genitals. (sorry about the vulgar comment) After going though with that a couple of times I decided to try an alternitive treatment. EAR CANDLING! It was honestly the most relaxing thing I have ever done. I had to go for two sessions at about $40 a pop but it was worth it. After the second session I still couldn't hear that well but in a couple of days my ears popped and I heard perfectly. I highly suggest this for cleaning your ears out.
i suppose the first reason i would ask is why you want to do it the second thing i would ask is - do you have an outer ear infection/ excess ear wax good ways to stop getting outer ear infections stop drinking cows milk, apparently some peoples bodies don't like it and the body's response leads to excess mucus etc which leads to infection. take my word for it, i used to drink heaps of the stuff and get ear infections, when i stopped drinking it the infections more or less went away. i tend to get ear infections if i eat too much sugar or foods like sultanas (!), or it gets really hot. work out what foods are provoking the infection. don't use products with sodium lauryl (or laureth) sulphate in them- it makes your skin itch. if i couldn't afford to go to the doctor/ was in the wilderness and in pain. the radical way of getting rid of it: get some tea tree oil maybe 5-6 drops with maybe 15 ml of clean water. shake up the mixture (it goes a milky colour) pour and into ear. if you reckon that theres a heap of crap in your ear already go to the pharmacist/chemist and get a syringe (not the ones with needles!!!!!!). suck up some WARM water and GENTLY syringe your ears with your head sideways down towards the floor to let all the crap come out, it will probably be black/brown. of course if you suspect theres something more serious then go to a doctor before doing this. anyone who gets ear infections on a regular basis will know what i'm talking about and will know if its not just the usual outer ear infection. after syringing your ears, rinse your ears out with the the tea tree mix. you could even use the tea tree mix to syringe as well who knows. do not syringe any more after this. pour the tea tree mix into your ear and let it sit in there for around 15-20 minutes . do each ear. do this for around two days to make sure. every 4-5 hours if its bad. after 2 days do nothing after another 2 days you will become aware of an irritation, like a heap of dry but pliable wax is ready to fall out of the ear. ideally don't poke at your ears. at some point just gently touching the very outside of the ear will pull a spool of dead , previously infected crap out of your ear. problem solved. don't poke at your ears any more, avoid foods that will provoke it. the tea tree may sting very, very slightly if the skin is open and bleeding/ weeping. the gentler way of getting rid of it do the syringe routine and then then use (a bottle of) colloidal silver solution to sit in you ear. yes it does work actually despite people telling you otherwise. silver is used in some swimming pool sytems to kill virus and bacteria. you can use a dropper to apply it to your shoes if they stink-smell goes away. the colloidal silver solution can be found in health food shops. this method is quite effective. my mother who has complained about her ear infections to me for some 30 years or more (and seen many doctors and taken many pills etc),recently, finally in an act of desperation took my advice and i helped her syringe out the crap in her ears, first with water and then a silver colloidal solution, which i also let sit in her ear. the outcome? i have not had to listen to stories and complaints of her ear infections. (i have used both methods myself a number of times in an emergency) if i were in the woods far from civillisation with a killer of a middle ear infection and no hope of getting to a doctor pour tea tree mix into ear and let it sit. the tea tree oil will absorb across the ear drum and sorrounding skin into the middle ear cavity and kill the infection. just if you were wondering - the aboriginals of australia have been using tea tree oil mix for some time to cure infections (probably around 40-50,000 years), so the trial period is pretty well conclusive. they use to swim in ponds where the tea trees dropped their leaves into the water thus making the solution - a mild yet highly effective infection killer. as a disclaimer! go and see a doctor
hey well casper, i'm sorry you have such a terrible time with ear problems! yowzers! the reason i want to candle is that i have really bad sinuses/my ears clog up pretty regularly. i'm vegan, so the dairy dealie doesn't apply to me--but its true, when i used to eat dairy my sinuses were a million times worse. i've got allergies (flowers, pollen; like that) and i've read that candling may help with those sorts of things. thanks for the responses!
I wanted to try ear candeling and i looked it up on the internet, and all of the sites were of doctors saying not to do it, and that the stuff that you see on the inside of it that is supposed to be from your head, is just melted wax. So now i am confused about if i should try it or not, i really want to, but i got discouraged looking it up and finding many negative things about it. can anyone prove them wrong?
I think it's safe. All that they will do is lay you on your side. Then they light one end of the cone and then blow it out. When you breath it acts your ear will bring the smoke into your ear. The smoke will try to escape (which it does) and brings ear wax with it. You may feel a little pressure but it doesn't hurt. For more information on it, I think a naturopathic doctor could give you info on it. Hope everything works out.
