actually what you said there is the psychiatric\medical definition of addiction. yep. look it up in DSM IV my friend. when you do something and it has negative effects (i.e. makes you feel like shit) but you continue to do it. ill go find my copy and quote from it if you like. based on the little i know about you and were i a registered psychologist (not quite there yet) i would diagnose you as a young, anti-social poly-drug abuser.

    anti-social? wtf?
i dont care what quotes you have, i dont care what you study, you are wrong.
I know what addiction is first hand, psych as well as physical....I think I would know ALOT better than you if I were addicted to something. I have been through it...to hell and back with it...so there is nothing you can teach me about it.
let me try to explain the context of my post so you might understand.
it is like if you went to the bar and hung out with your friends one evening and did some shots. the next morning you have a hangover and you say "damn i feel like shit...not doing that again". But then a month or so later you are out with your friends and have sort of forgotten about your hang over and how bad you felt, so you do another shot.
do you get it? I am not sittin' around chewing on pills going "oh god this stuff is shitt.....uh....let me grab one more".
Whatever....I thought I clarified my post pretty well earlier...but if you still dont get it........oh well, i am late for my 12 step program anyway;)

i just finished my masters in psychology im going to get my PhD as soon as i have the money to go back to school.

i understand the concept and that is the definition or at least one of the definitions and trust me i know what addiction is and not because i study medical definitions and that shit because i was addicted to oxycontin. and i dont mean addiction like a bunch of the dumbfucks on here think they're addicted to stuff i mean HARDCORE addicted. i was slamming 4 80's a day at one point. then i moved and started going to a different school and quit cold turkey.

That people who act the way you describe are indeed addicted- even if they don't admit it.

I've been taking Ambien occasionally for the past 3 weeks following a knee replacement surgery. The Doctor said it is very common to have sleep issues after a knee replacement and sent me home with a script. I have to say I use it 2-3 times a week with no problems. I wake up refreshed and so far no weird side effects.

I used to abuse ambien from time to time. It got a bit out of hand one time and I haven't touched it since. it's pretty much a rule of thumb now that I don't take pills. I've been lucky enough to learn from some of my mistakes...

I took 10mg once, during the day, just for the he'll of it. It did absolutely nothing. I seriously couldn't detect any effects. However, I have a high benzo tolerance being prescribed 2mg Klonopin per day!
